His Excellency, The Senator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, representing Ogun East in the red chambers, has formally notified Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun of the Federal Government's approval to commence construction of the Abigi-Makun-Omi Naval Base in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.

In his letter to the governor, the chairman senate committee on Navy, disclosed that the project, approved under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, will be executed in phases.

The initial phase includes perimeter fencing, administrative block, and accommodation quarters for naval personnel.

The Ogun State Government has already allocated 100 hectares of land for the strategic project, which aims to enhance maritime security and boost socio-economic development in the region.

Future phases will feature educational facilities and a naval hospital.
Daniel, while expressing gratitude for the governor's support, also acknowledged Chief of Naval Staff Vice-Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla's contribution to the project's approval.
