Probably Dangote has signed an agreement to sell at approved price. Otherwise, Dangote should just sell a little lower and NNPC will drink their imported fuel |

Aprocco: An whats the trajectory of the so called NUDPRC, have they not shown partisanship enough. who disparaged Dangote fuel as inferior and how true is that statement today Its myopic to accuse Dangote of "Monopoly" when the same people inciting monopoly are the very ones sabotaging our national refineries from working Do you even know what the PIA stipulates about local refineries and allotment priorities. Dangote is making a move to protect is investment following the PIA, after all PIA is not written by dangote, and it beneficiary to all local refineries within naija. You cant bring a clone iphone to disparage my tm iphone market as "expensive and you expect me not to act or create awareness. Dangote can only make is product competitive in a market where standard is enforced, we dont sell same quality and you dare say my product is expensive thats not competition We have four dead refineries but those rogues tell us the only way to curb dangote is continue to import even at the detriment of our economy, and thats whats you are supporting |

Re: Nigeria’s NNPC Continues Importing Petrol, Diesel Amid Dangote Refinery Surplus by Bimow: 6:31pm On Nov 17 |
Something is wrong with Dangote prices if imported fuel can be cheaper or the same with him. Dangote should bring down the price of the products, nobody will allow his monopoly. He monopolised cement market and Nigerians can not afford the price again, even cement importation should be allowed. |
Re: Nigeria’s NNPC Continues Importing Petrol, Diesel Amid Dangote Refinery Surplus by Aprocco: 6:35pm On Nov 17 |
chidiokay: PIA- Dangote operates in Free Trade Zone Area for independence reason. He is not a local refinery and not entitled to the dictates. Dangote for the upteenth time cannot label a product of a competitor as substandard. He didn't test those products, he has no authority to and it is just deliberately misleading to label competitors product substandard. All agencies and inspectors certified this product compliant, except you show a contrary Authority to the contrary stop the rhetorics already. Stop it. Same PIA stipulates NNPC (Government Arm) would not have beyond 30% supply share, to avoid monopoly. The Deregulation never envisaged Dangote's dream of a monopoly. To further illustrate the devilish extent a monopolist can resort, you should reach his allegation against Pinnacle oil. A multinational Dangote had facilitated their establishment beside their refinery only to turn around to accuse them of intent to blend fake products all because Dangote saw they were not solely buying from him. It's a bad dream to think of being the only seller of petrol in Nigeria. Dangote has been given all the leverage he needs to price competitors out of Market but Profit ambition would not allow him tolerate competition. Except you're not an industry watcher, all these tendencies didn't catch anyone by surprise. Dangote's war with Marketers had started in 2021 when he sponsored a bill to ban Importation of fuel by entities who don't own refineries. It scaled first reading, a lot of underhand exchanges happened to ensure the bill was thrown out. Dangote just can't thrive in a fair competition. |

chidiokay: Good point but we need to look at all sides. I know these NNPC guys and their co-plotters would rather have the sector and opaque as possible so that their shenanigans will continue but if I must play the devil’s advocate, I’d say that Dangote cannot win this war by smear campaign or going to court or NASS. To put in another way, he is in business and the guys he’s fighting are also in business (like them or hate them). He cannot use a social reason like the need to stop imports and save FX to try and force stoppage of importation. He should do it the business way - by trying to make their fuel uncompetitive and if reducing his price will be detrimental to his refining business, he needs to spell it out clearly by enumerating the cost implications. He is a business man not a public service personnel. Even if he’s able to demonstrate that reducing his price will make him uncompetitive, he still cannot force the arms of competitors to patronize him on his terms and he will need to find other ways. It’s why he’s in business. |

Aprocco: ALOL !! Dangote is built in a free trade zone which is outside Nigeria geo location abi Dangote refinery enjoyed federal govt and CBN support and Nnpc even has a stake in dangote shares, if dangote is not local refinery is it now int'l refinery, egbami 🤣🤣 Mumu Dangote and Marketers can not be classified as competitors .... cos dangote is a producer with overhead cost while the useless marketer are retailers note the difference NDMPRA said dangote fuel is inferior and marketer claim dangote fuel is expensive and you think dangote is not justified to react or respond. In 2022, an adulterated fuel was imported and it went unnnoticed, what does that tell you about our regulatory body IF Dangote is not the one sabotaging our refineries or does he has power to forbid any investor from building another refineries .. how exactly does he plan to achieve Monopoly 🤣 the marketers crying know Nigerians are very gullible, if you want to push Nigeria against Atiku cite "corruption" and if you want to turn Nigerians against dangote just shout Monopoly .. people throw away there senses Dangote is prvy of All cost, he knows the only way any one can sell fuel cheaper than is price is to bring in substandard or lower quality .. which is no brainer MuMu use your brain, how can dangote Monopolized the oil sector Refinery license is open to All investor If Nnpc fix our four Refineries will Dangote issue directive to stop it or what ... sey una no dey think nii citing monopoly like school dropout. Dangote has lots of enemies should we stop importation fully, other local refineries will spring up cos they must fight dangote ... that were Nigerians stand to gain |

Kobojunkie: Nigeria had currency control for 40 years to protect Nigeria. You can say Nigeria was subsidising the Naira until last year. Where is Nigeria today 40 years after being an import-dependent country? Import is a problem. , especially if the country imports products it can produce, such as textiles, palm oil, PMS, Gas, pharmaceuticals, tyres and food. |
Re: Nigeria’s NNPC Continues Importing Petrol, Diesel Amid Dangote Refinery Surplus by Aprocco: 7:41pm On Nov 17 |
chidiokay: You are arguing beyond your intellectual capacity. Masking your ignorance with insults. Free Trade Zone are not under Nigerian law except on trade terms with Nigeria. Both Dangote refinery and Marketers allowed by PIA are suppliers of petroleum products that's why they are competing to sell to Nigerians. Whether by fixing refineries or by importation, Deregulation implies a market of multiple sellers and buyers where there is choice based on price. Nigerians are not as gullible as you think. An average Nigerian is way smarter than you. Monopoly actually is a simple English word- Dangote sole supply. No Marketer needs to explain what Monopoly is to Nigerians. Dangote a novice can only speak of his own cost, even though he confessed his price is being driven by international price not cost (another novice talk). Price in a deregulation is where Demand meets supply- Let all sellers give their quotes, the Market price is the one that gets demand. And Price would generally gravitate towards the Quotee that gets Demand. If you understand the ills of Monopoly you would not suggest that Dangote should be sole supplier till another refinery starts operation. In a Monopoly where there is no option the objective of the Monopolist is to maximize Price/ Profit. The poorest country of the world would have to cope with inflation, starvation, collapse of SME and Commerce who all depend on PMS till another refinery is built. Please seek education, you can't make up for a lacking intellect with ridiculous submissions. I recommend you spend some time on UDEMY rather than Nairaland. It would help you, trust me. |

The country nerds a revolution. That's the only way to sanitize the country. How could we be importing fuel in midst of plenty! Is it not madness Besides, all our refineries not functioning. Aprocco: Can you please advise me on the status of the four NNPC refineries? In 2021, the Buhari government spent over $4 billion to fix all four refineries. Mele Kyari swore on TV that the refineries would be ready in 2023. Where are the government-owned refineries today? We need to hold this government to account. If the country borrows limited FX to import PMS, that will impact the local economy. If you don't want the so called dangote monopoly get the local refineries working now |
Re: Nigeria’s NNPC Continues Importing Petrol, Diesel Amid Dangote Refinery Surplus by sulaak(m): 7:49pm On Nov 17 |
Omodua: Tinubu is behind this problem. Tinubu is the unofficial minister of petroleum; this is how he intends to raise funds for his other businesses, importing low-grade PMS for Nigeria consumption. |

Here I had once commented... Non of them is fighting for the common masses. At these stage, if Dangote is sincere, let him crash the price. Importation is possible because it has competitive prospects at the landing destinations. Thank God he can sell direct to the marketers. |
Re: Nigeria’s NNPC Continues Importing Petrol, Diesel Amid Dangote Refinery Surplus by Aprocco: 8:00pm On Nov 17 |
sulaak: Consumer/ Deregulated Market is not overly concerned about the source, 4 Refineries or Dangote Refinery. All the Market is interested about is who can supply cheapest compliant product. If 4 Refineries and Dangote end up producing at a cost higher than imported products, the Refineries would either have to seek more concessions in waiver, duties or tariffs to beat Importation or find an export market for their products. Why should life/ business and wellbeing of poorest 200,000,000 people on the face of the earth be strained beyond limit to promote profit objectives of a Capitalist. When you don't even know the meaning of Free Trade Zone, calling me Mumu for your own ignorance. |

Lookmun: When you are in a match with a team that the refree is wearing there jersey your chances not to lose is only VAR, lets look at hostically since Dangote resorted to media & cry out as it paved ways or block ways for him, " Sometimes you don't need to win a war you did not start .. just survive it " quote me on marbles Dangote has an investment to protect while the Nnpc/marketers only have selfish interest to protect. How feasible is Dangote Monopoly with existences of national refineries and an open license to any investor at all time. How do you make "cheap" uncompetitive in a country where 80% can't even afford TM .. put omo igbo lg tv in store alongside fouani lg tv and watch 80% go for omo igbo lg tv that is the reality of the market dangote found himsef. except standard is enforced dangote cant compete it is the duty of govt to protect local industry... is it not mind boggling that the Apc govt that ban imported Rice/grains to promote local farmers are the ones indifferent about fuel importation. Lets also unban food importation to competite with local farmers .. is Rice cheap 1 Like |

Aprocco: If being you is intelligence i will pass beko, at the 1st hightlighted you simply shot yoursef ... Dangote refinery is primarily setup is to serve Nigeria, if junk of dangote trade is with Nigeria then he is subjected to the Nigeria trade terms, isnt that law in place Dangote is a producer and marketers are distributors go nd understand the difference. in layman's english Dangote has no connect to Nigerians without distributors, learn. Can we call what we are seeing a deregulation, Nnpc still fixed the price and as we speak me or you cant distinguish dangote fuel from imported fuel by Price ..smh Presently Nnpc is still importing and judging from the market price where is evidence imported fuel is cheaper When dangote mentioned int'l price influencing is price he is infering Nigerians to know he bought crude from Nnpc at int'l price which is the basis for price computation. I am not holding brief for Dangote, but i know the stupidiest thing is to trust the same people that have being explioting Nigerians for decades. All these economic theories can we achieve it with local refineries why must it be IMPORT. why are you people making it seems the only way to curb Monopoly is importation .. Nnpc was sole importer for how long, you all liked it But Dangote monopoly that will trigger other local refineries and reduce FX pressure is the Covid in town. Taking importation off the desk means cabals have to take local measures to combat Dangote, they cant go idle n watch dangote take it all, cant you guyz think. killing industrialization all in the name of cheap is the stupidiest thing, only Nigerians can reason that way |

Re: Nigeria’s NNPC Continues Importing Petrol, Diesel Amid Dangote Refinery Surplus by Lookmun: 8:55pm On Nov 17 |
chidiokay: Don’t get me wrong as I agree with most of your points. I think the only area where we are not aligned is sympathy for Dangote. If it was the government that was making all this outcry and take action about why 4 refineries aren’t productive after lots of monies spent and empty promises I’d be happy. You make a good point that it’s the duty of government is to protect local industries and this is why I fault not only this clueless APC regime but also their pathetic sympathizers. In fact I think many use this Dangote impasse as a smokescreen to continue their irrational support and if you see anybody on this thread that hasn’t criticized NNPCL and their cronies but they are always asking Dangote to reduce his price, they are the ones. My issue with Dangote is that he is trying to evoke sympathy from the populace so that he can have his way. In other words, he is trying to use social means to achieve a business goal. This is why I won’t be dragged in their fight. All these talk of trying to get importers’ licenses banned and other actions are what I’m talking about. And to be honest, for most Nigerians price is a much bigger issue than quality since we have been buying the so-called lesser quality fuel all our lives. It’s not like the higher quality fuel will do anything much significantly different and so could it be that Dangote erred in presuming quality to be high on Nigerians wishlist as he thought that they wouldn’t mind paying a premium. It’s seems unlikely that Nigerians would be interested in promoting Dangote’s dream at a premium cost to themselves if the benefit they get is “FX savings” which they never get to enjoy from anyway because of the same poor governance. What exactly is Dangote asking for? Is he saying that government should ban all the importers of fuel? That’s government’s call (whether to increase tariffs for imports or introduce outright bans but he insisting on that is not his call. If they were engaging in sharp practices thereby hampering his business, then he can ask the regulator to come hard on the dubious practitioners. But in this case, the importers are also doing business (selfish or not - in fact all business people need some level of good selfishness) and he cannot force the hand of the law or government to cut off their hands. |

chidiokay:Very brilliant post in my opinion. Many seem to have been brainwashed and hoodwinked by constant propaganda spewed by this administration about deregulation. NNPC still fixes prices. And in fairness to Dangote, he can only sell based on his input cost plus a margin to be profitable because he had loans to pay and he hasn’t even broken even. |
