Well, i wish the people aggrieved in this matter all the best in their quest to fight their cause. I pray that the sense of reasoning will prevail on both sides at the end of the day, I know it is dialogue that will resolve this at the end of the day. I am out of here before i am torn apart and going to auto section to feed my eyes without being abused. Vidi Mose |

I saw this comment on Sahara reporters: Tinubu: tunde go and increase Lasu fees and let toll fees payments start from lekki. NOW Fashola: my governor emeritu why now? Tinubu: becos 2015 is still far away. Remember i told you our people have short memory. So the earlier the better. Fashola: but, Tinubu: if u cant do it, your deputy will fashola: its done sir karl max: Thanks for pointing this out, the lawyer championing the case against LASG has asked them to toll the additional lane only if they need to "recoup"their so called investment. |

Now I know Jonathan was right when he said SW Governors are rascals. The ACN crew just confirmed it. You dont toll residential roads. Only Interstate State roads are tarred in civil worlds |

VoodooDoll: The worst has happened. May the souls of the innocent fallen rest in perfect peace. I shed tears for my nation and its rampant hypocrisies. Here is a party led by a drug pushing, thieving fraudster whose very identity and family roots are in doubt, a man brandishing a fake degree, forged in the dark alleys of Oluwole; yet, that man and his followers have dared credulence to call themselves "progressives." How is it possible to term a heroine trafficer as a progressive? On what planet? Who ever heard of a benevolent demon? Sush a man would be expected to hire thugs and robbers to whip his own people in line and that is what has happenned today. Let us pray that confirmation does not arrive that puts the death at the hands of OPC or NURTW. If that turns out to be the case, then we must paint the streets the colour of blood and wipe out these thugs and agents of Beelzebub. |

Ironically, I remember BRF and BAT were staunch critics of Gadhaffi, Mubarak and Ben-Ali, due to regarding their brazen brutality against civilian protesters. But what makes it funny is that, while the North African protesters were clamoring for the resignations of their aforementioned respective rulers, the Lagos protesters were merely fighting against the toll gates. As in, commono toll gates, e don dey like this. I wouldn't dare imagine wetin those thugs go now come do when it gets to resignation request. |

Truth is, am addicted to the Cinema life and the Palm Mall. So earlier this year when I heard that toll collection will start, I moved from Lekki Phase One to VI close to Shoprite. Now I can even drive a five minute stretch from my house by Palm to Lekki Phase 1 to see friends without paying toll to and fro, just a 5 minutes drive. Its uncalled for, the alternative route is "New Market" road, by New Market road we mean a single-lane-like strip which is actually a market with cars/okadas/buses/pedestrians/roadside sellers blocking the road. And you cant even beat this traffic and drive to Lekki Phase one without going over to Elf Round about which is about 20 minutes drive then turn back again another 20 minutes to exact road oppsosite the Lekki Phase one. Its like seeing your neighbors home opposite you but no way of moving opposite but have to drive far right then turn left and come to a house opposite you. Will I call it wickedness ? I say its man's inhumanity against fellow man. Just like Alams of Bayelsa said, : "There are 2 entities you can not fight; God and the Government" I guess I have to just make new friends. |

Saw all dis coming, imagine NURTW supporting toll gate . if care is not taken all d roads in lagos will be tolled, ACN (a wolf in sheep clothing). The bitter truth is dat ACN has bought lagos. Lagos is no more a no man's land ACN top shots has shared lagos within themselves. Just a piece of advice for them, by the time they push people to the extreme and people get poorer with nothing else to eat except the rich. |

It is essential to pray for God's guidance in any human endeavour. Fashola is seriously missing his way in this his second term in particular, it seems as if the cries of those he oppressed during his first term are catching-up with him in the form of misdeeds- I am seriously taking note for personal reasons. One has to learn from the falls of those ahead. |
Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by ireke(m): 3:32pm On Dec 17, 2011 |
dagboss: With all due respect sir - 1. Like you rightly said, the road was BUILT. 2. there has always been an alternative route to Lagos from Ibadan. It is just longer. There is no reasonable alternative to the EXPANDED road. 3. I will appreciate if you quote anywhere in the world where you have to pay so much toll within a 13Km stretch of road. 4. Finally compare the earning power of the masses to the toll being proposed for this road. Again let me know if this obtains anywhere in the world. Just my thoughts sir. |

Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by POTUT(m): 3:44pm On Dec 17, 2011 |
@dagboss, There are no alternative routes. Please review your thoughts on this. The protests will not stop. Fashola has finally let go of his disguise. If anyone dies, their blood will be upon your unborn generation. You & (bastard) Tinubu. |
Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by ndahbros1: 3:50pm On Dec 17, 2011 |
Quote from Beaf: But the govt would not stoop to bestial levels and get OPC, NURTW and God knows how many armed robbers to quell any protest and spill innocent blood. I cannot understand how a government can turn thugs on its own people. Oh but u do understand, only too well.if Fashola who has more finesse and style than most PDP 'rulers' have cud stoop so low,I expect the notorious PDP and the FG to import mercenaries from Niger and Chad to engage our own people wen eva they summon d balls to protest removal of fuel subsidy. If CAN which is nearer to d people cud do this, then I truly tremble at the tot of wat the insensitive PDP will do especially where the stakes ar much, much higher than tollgate concessioning. If Fashola who does not have real powers ova d military, police and all other security outfits could act like this, wat do we expect from d highest office in d land who controls d police? We are watching. |

So this is how the NL update of a protest is hijacked by partisan goons to spread more propaganda. Nonsense |

The messed up thing is that people who don't have any reason to go through those toll gates will not take part in the protests and will leave the protesters to suffer the wrath of the corrupt politicians Eventually they wont have any choice but to go home and start paying the tolls. |
Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by Chubhie: 4:15pm On Dec 17, 2011 |
Power to the people! May the very spirits and thoughts of marx-leninism be expressed through this protest and may all who are oppressed in one way or the other tap and find courage to stand up and resist. |
Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by Limaoscar: 4:19pm On Dec 17, 2011 |
Openly using thugs on your own people in place of the police is a new and shameful invention in Nigerian politics. @Beaf, while I am strongly on your side as far as this is issue is concerned , Let us not also forget that it is not only the use of thugs that is an issue here. If we default to the state police or MOPOL as we call them back home, their brutality, extortion, indiscriminate arrests and "accidental discharges" and all sorts will also be another issues to deal with. So am I saying we don't use the police? , No, all I am saying is that because of the breakdown of Law and Order ever since Civilian Regimes/Administrations we have been in-between a Rock and a Hard place when it comes to protection by law enforcement agencies. We want them to do their jobs but when they show-up they start shooting and killing citizens. So what we really need is when we have notified the Police HQ of a peaceful protest, we should then demand that the Police do not come and start shooting tear gas, beating and arresting people in a peaceful procession otherwise they should be looking at litigation assuming the judicial system will do her work under this circumstances of State against her Citizens. Overall , I am glad about the Protest and hope they don't maime or kill nobody. As for the thugs, if they are not withdrawn they may face individuals who have the potential to metamorphosis into their kinds too and if that happens, it will be the one big hell let loose. |

The 20km stretch of road has not been completed yet o! Toll1 is set to take off. One toll plaza every 7 kilometers of sub-standard tarmac. |

@alh_harem, So when it goes good its okay to credit Fashola, and when it doesn't you must look the other way, abi? Stop making excuses for people with executive power. Or is the purported conversation below true? Posted by: tlo |
Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by guysmat(m): 4:53pm On Dec 17, 2011 |
Lekki Toll gate Statistics: Let's say you own an SUV and live on the other end of Lekki where you'd have to pass thru the 3 toll gates, 1 SUV x N150 x 3 tolling booths = N450.00 (almost $3 USD) If you go to work in the morning and come back in the evening, = 2 x N450.00 = N900.00 If you have to do this everyday of the month, then you'll be paying 30day x N900.00 = N27,000.00 Assuming everything remains constant for the year, you'll be paying 12 months x N27,000.00 = N324,000.00 (or $2076) annually for just one car And this is supposed to go on for the next 35 years Who signed this agreement |
