VCs are the prime ministers..

Chancellors are just ceremonial head with power to remove/checkmate VCs

Very good move those university council think they're above the law removing and installing VC without following due process at least the new university in Otukpo will now know that council are not above the law

The governing council headed by the chancellor is not involved in the day to day operations of the institution.
The head of the institution daily activities is the VC.
The chancellor and his team don't resume on daily basis, they only come on need basis

The Governing Council of the University is headed by the Pro Chancellor not the Chancellor.

The Chancellor is the "ceremonial head"

The chancellor is a ceremonial position. He is only present at the university for council meetings, ceremonies etc. The VC is a full time employee and the administrative head of the university

The Chancellor doesn't attend the Governing Council meeting because he is not a member. He only attends ceremonies of the University like the Convocation and he awards degrees to convocing members especially the Doctorate Degree.

You were the same people moaning about how Zik and NCNC "forced an Igbo as the VC of the university of Lagos" in the first republic. Now you don't see anything wrong with such move and those who see anything wrong with that are "overbearing people who thought the university is their village school"! You make all those summersaults in a second with a straight face and not a single apology. Isn't that a wonderful performance?

Good. I don't know what happened but I perceive high handedness from the ruling councils in both institutions. I know how it feels like to work with a boss who thinks that the world belongs to him/her. Very annoying.

Modern age you say? Do you understand govt protocol and engagement? I guess No. So you think someone who went for such engagement with numerous headaches around him will have the time to be deliberating on one irrelevant paper weight commission or office?

Anyway if you are a business man you will understand better the meaning of engagemet as a boss.

Tha decision is taken by the minister in charge of that office only to inform the president then come out to say the president sacked this person and sacked that person

The late Prof Otunta was the immediate past vice chancellor of Micheal okpara university of agriculture umudike.

Chancellor is an honorary Chairman of the University Governing Council but VC is the sole administrator of the University.

Same as Bank Chairman and Bank Managing Director.

The chancellor can be likened to the chairman of the board of directors of a company. They don’t have executive powers.
