Omo, i can relate. This is a situation one should pray not to encounter. My savings box was destroyed and my money stolen by a friend who came for immigration training and begged to stay at my place. I came back from work noticed my bedroom door was wide open. Only to enter and find out that my savings box, shoes, necklace, wristwatch and other items were stolen by this friend. Coming to my sitting room i could not find my ps4. Long story.

He should take the burnt money to the bank, the will change it for him.
Because this is a case of mutilated currency caused by fire.
