Secondly, when a President, Governor and LGA Chairman knows that he or she is not coming back, he will focus on working because as it stands now, President and Governors only work for 1 year plus, the remaining years they use it to plan and loot for their reelection.


Thirdly, this bill will kill every cry of political marginalization or political inequality from federal to state to LGA level as it will give every geopolitical zone in Nigeria, every Senatorial zone in the 36 states and every constituency in the LGA an opportunity to produce President, Governor and LGA Chairman. It will go a long way in reducing agitation and insecurity caused by political inequalities.


Fourthly, this bill will reduce election rigging if all elections are held same day; especially President, Governor and LGA Chairman election, while Senate, Reps and State HoAs are held same day.

I think the bill is pointless in the wider scheme of things in Nigeria, although I understand the good intentions of Ikenga Ugochinyere

He wanted a single tenure of 6 years and recognition of the 6 geopolitical zones as the basis of rotation. This would have guaranteed that every geopolitical zone produced the President

The problem with this is that Ugochinyere doesn't yet understand that the people he is doing 'one Nigeria' with have a very different way of seeing things

That bill has many advantages.

1. Save Nigeria a lot of money as elections will now be conducted once in 6 years instead of every 4 years

2. Reduce the obsession of politicians with second tenure. It makes them steal a lot of money they need to buy votes for their second tenure.

The idea that has been circulating was to make it 6 years and definitely not single term.

It started from obj who wanted a 3rd term.

I'm not surprised they didn't approve it. Sooner or later, they will make it 6 years. Not that I care.

Let it be known that Ikenga didn't sponsor a bill to help fight insecurity in southeast, neither did he sponsor a bill to improve education, healthcare or social development in South East.
