How Adeboye Became The Head Of RCCG Ahead Of The Founder’s Kids $ Senior Pastors by Daejumong(m): 9:31pm On Nov 22, 2024 |
Why Pastor Akindayomi handed over RCCG to Pastor Adeboye? Why he didn’t hand over to his kids? Why he overlooked older pastors and gave a fervent ,highly committed and well educated Adeboye? How that selfless decision has transformed RCCG from 40 parishes to 50,000 parishes world wide! What are the lessons for General overseers worldwide? Pastor Akindayomi founded RCCG in 1952 . He had no formal education and could barely read and write! He was however well anointed by God! Adeboye joined the church in 1973 at the age of 31. He was about finishing his PhD in Mathematics at the University of Lagos! He was well educated, tall, handsome and most importantly loved God with passion . He was made Akindayomi’s interpreter almost immediately and ordained a pastor two years after joining the church, in 1975, same year he got his PhD! Beyond his spiritual dedication and immense love for Christ, Akindayomi saw a man who could take RCCG to the next level! A man who had the education, physical attributes, charisma and finesse he lacked ! He knew that a man who had all these qualities in addition to loving Christ passionately would be unstoppable! He did not quickly ordain his kids as pastors and make them vice presidents or assistant overseers when he knew they were not ready yet. He thought of the greater good of the ministry rather than turning the church to a family business! He was selfless and visionary! The church he handed over to Adeboye in 1981 with 40 parishes now has 50,000 parishes globally! His biological kids are now playing major roles in the church with one of his daughters, a pastor in a parish in America. General overseers must understand that the church of God is not a family business. You don’t need to hand over to your kids/spouse especially when there are better hands that God is directing you to! I know it’s difficult, after working so hard to build a ministry, to now hand it on a platter of gold to an outsider however God’s will should always supersede our personal desires and wishes! 2 Likes 1 Share

Food for thought, indeed! Another shining example is our daddy, W.F. Kumuyi (Pst.) and other distinguished ministers like John Wesley, Martin Luther, D.L. Moody, Smith Wigglesworth, Charles G. Finney, Reinhard Bonke, to mention but a few. |

Kobojunkie:"When the missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said 'Let us pray.' We closed our eyes. When we opened them we had the Bible and they had the land." |

mecuries:Now the missionaries are gone and they left us much of the land they originally took but what are we still using them for? These days we have our people enslaving the people using the name of the missionaries who are long gone. At least the missionaries built schools, hospitals, and a lot more. What are these current crooks building but a future that ensures our children remain slaves to their desires and egos? |
