And your niece attending a glorified school living on past glory will be one of those bad- mouthing private universities.

Tell her to network with students in Covenant and Babcock.

Still paying N1500 to enter computer lab twice in a month! Chai. There is God ooo.

This is what breeds technology and not the classroom type we were given in school.

Both combined, that's true education. Practicals without theory and verbal and quantitative knowledge would dull the brain over time, but when balanced with theoretical knowledge, it's the best.

It's only recently they re-introduced the "trades school" back into their educational curriculum because white collar employment is now looking bleak for college graduates. I watched a segment on Candace Owen's podcast where college graduates were lamenting their woes on the job market. If not for the accent and skin colour, I would have said these were Nigerian graduates lamenting. Some of them have gone to trades school to learn a trade. It's good to see thay some high schools are incorporating handy skills that students can learn and earn from in case they're unable to get office jobs. Lagos has its equivalent in technical schools across the state. Students from SS1 upwards can go and learn skills alongside their school curriculum

Nigerian educators wey hate ideas funny enough the learning you are learning is to prompt those ideas in your head but when you have ideas then you become a problem to them.

Nigerian environment is not sustainable or suitable for practicals because of affordability of learning tools and availability of learning infrastructures. You might find some of this things in top notch private schools and not government schools. People that can hardly buy basics for their kids to use in school na em wan buy tools used for practicals? How much be cement now? How much be block? Western and Eastern environment allow this to thrive and not to talk of how the parents earn which enables their children to get most of its needs. Their education is subsides that the government provides all the learning facilities so that the parents can provide the rest but for here how much person dey earn wey e wan buy 1 bag of cement for em pikin to use as practical? Roof and ceiling no even dey some Govt schools sef.

I was once a teacher also.

Oga stop talking trash.
I have a student of mine who schools in one of the cheapest UK schools, and am very sure that what he pays in a term is more that what he could pay in Nigeria for 6 years. Education is not cheap and is never cheap anywhere in the world.
Check the way we even prefer foreign expatriates over duly qualified engineers in civil construction.
Take for instance, Anambra State that offers free tuition for all high school students, yet you still find people complaining that they don't have money to buy basic items for academics.
This same person will collect 2k to vote in a riffraff simply because he is from his region.

Bro, na we dey do ourselves.

you want to compare the UK to Nigeria? How much is the minimum wage there? If someone can send their kid to the UK for education do you know how much it would cost in total? Or you think everybody pocket is the same abi? That is why you are a teacher if you cannot study and observe both the financial and psychological needs of a student and his or her sponsor then you are not a teacher at all. Education is not cheap that is why the government plays a part to contribute to the education but if they don't then how will the country afford it? Nigeria is relatively poor with people earning than people in the UK but you want them to pay and foot bills like those outside Nigeria when they can't even earn something reasonable? Lets not bring regional politics into it because it's something that goes round Nigeria not just in one region. How will they be able to provide when they are poor? Do you know how expensive things now is in the market? When things were cheap, govt didn't bother to capitalise on it and improve education. Next time if you want to compare make sure you also add how much they make a month compared to how much they make here in Nigeria a month.

And we wonder why their houses don't be crumbling often. Hire 40 brick layers... they're all on the same page. Hire 40 brick layers in Nigeria... each has his own way and his way is the best... one use string to set the row straight ... one need nothing ... he can just look and see it is all lined up ... another doesn't even have to look .... he been doing soooo long ... and before the building is completed it collapse. The monies used to make useless flyovers can be better spent in skill development.
