The bolded shows your ignorance.

FIRS has already been garnishing accounts.

You would have known this if you are involved in active business.

I have a letter from them on my desk demanding for N20m Tax.

They based it on my total company revenue gotten from my corporate account without my knowledge.

They are not at all interested in how much of the revenue is actual profit but we go handle them accordingly.

So retract your statement I bolded below. It is a sure thing that Tax ID will be used to garnish individual accounts in the nearest future.

gabbytabby:
At the current time only few things are within the scope of VAT. Most things bought by the average Nigerian in the market has no VAT except you shop in places like Shoprite and big supermarkets often patronised by the Elites.

What is wrong with having an ID even where this incorporates Tax ID no where does this gives the government access to monitor and garnish so you are just rumour mongering if anything it makes it easier for government to administer pallatives and social programs directly to the people without someone stealing it.

It might make it easier to identify criminals and that is a good thing ba.

You have a registered business but refused to render accounts, declare your profit and pay your taxes for how many years before they got a court order to garnish kwo.

you don't read to understand but to argue. I'm telling you that government has removed taxes on agricultural products like wheat and other foods. So no matter what they produce, it can't be taxed

It is you that is far behind in understanding this discourse.

If the state governments farm wheat and other crops and sell them to other countries in foreign currencies. They will enjoy full profit since agricultural products are not taxable for now.

Aside Lagos no state can fund its own budget. See all of them dropping 800b, 900b even 1 trillon budget. People that can not generate 100b IGR that are talking about 900b budget. You will get the madness. Now everybody go sit tight because at some point we all need to sit tight. One thing I am praying they should do is allow states to control their natural resources. It's bad and unfair that my ancestor founded a place that makes anything that's on the land belong to me and my folks but now I have to share these things with people I have nothing in common with it's cheating. It will make the other person lazy because saara money dey come if you know what I mean. Nigeria as constituted is really unfair.

The weakness I see in this method is that the economic hubs like Lagos, Abuja, kano, Rivers, Delta, Ogun, Anambra etc will witness a massive over population as citizens from states that are not doing too well will migrate in great number to them as they seek for opportunities. The states might not survive this.
