Inferiority complex, fear and tribalism can't be far from the decision of the Police....

Let's call a spade a spade...

Is the masquerade going to start from Oshodi and parade up to Lekki or start from Oshodi and parade down to Volks, Badagry

Is just coming to a spot , display and go....and is not to everybody's desire to come and watch...
ibo masquerade is not allowed in Lagos State

Where was this spirit during the Biafra war or the Trans Atlantic slave trade?

All these "spirit" things are not just ordinary but they are complete BS.

You can be careful because you have clearly been brought up been indoctrinated about it's "power" , Ndi Yoruba haven't and don't believe in that particular spirit's power as they have their own.

And before anyone reads the above and asks why it has been stopped from coming to ala Yoruba, as I alluded to earlier, this is Ndi Yoruba "it is our Land" muscle flexing, simple.

That Tinubu stole Presidential mandate from Peter Obi does not mean Yoruba have conquered Nigeria and Igbos as you people foolishly believe. Time will tell.

This is all you should have typed so we identify the source of your pain. The rest na jara.

The mandate is with its rightful owner. Even Peter Obi has confirmed it.

Keep your culture to your region and let your tourist visit your region for the masquerade.

Stop bringing your low life culture to the SW, the SW has more than enough masquerades so nothing new about your ajiofa.

We like to cry fowl but forget Due process. The lagos state government and security agencies aren't supposed to come Last in such arrangements, they come first. Get all necessary permits, collaborate with the lagos state ministry of Arts and culture.
Masquerades in Nigeria represent cultures and Beliefs. This would have been a great opportunity for the South East and Lagos state government to collaborate in promoting the igbo culture while entertaining tourists this festive season. The event would have pulled out thousands of people and not just a small venue like Festival hotel. The organisers didn't see a bigger picture.

The records are here for the next generations to see. We told them, don't turn your region into a war zone because of your hatred towards Buhari, Sai Baba will go but the idiots killers won't go.. Now they're seeing the result, they cannot go back home for their wedding, august meeting, and now trying to bring in their masquerades to come and entertain them in another's man region. Bunch of shameless people.

Has it gotten to that stage?
This is like saying Okpa ( I don't know how they spell ) but it is called Babara Nut pudding should not be sold in Lagos because it is Igbo origine and many people don't like it.

Or Esan man can no bring their special masquerade Ubadomeme to an Event in Lagos?

South Africa no do reach this one o.

I pray Tinubu Tax bill should be passed into law.
Those people that support the concentration of our common wealth in Lagos will start speaking up against it when their state and pocket begin to fill the heat, then this tribalism will stop.

stop speaking on things you know nothing about.

I tried not to reply you but I couldn't resist the urge.
Someone said up there that the 2023 elections awakens the Yoruba. This same Tinubu you keep mentioning has never been tribalistic. Tinubu was among or the first governor in Nigeria to appoint different tribes into his cabinet; he appointed Ben Akabueze as a commissioner then; ibos were working in different government parastals in Lagos state.

Ask people living in Amuwo Odofin some years back; ibos do contest for chairmanship election because they are close to being the majority there. Even in Ojo local government. Even when some of us see these posters of ibos contesting for elections in those days we just overlook the scenario and move on with our daily lives.

But things took a turn, when the ibos supported Gbadebo for Lagos state governorship; trying to distort Lagos state political plans. The truth of the matter is; you can participate in the politics of the locales wherever you are; but the moment you start supporting or dictating or coercing your people to vote for the opponent of the preferred locales you are already passing your boundary. Even if you have a preferred candidate in mind don't make it too open to your hosts.

You can see that Obi won Lagos; is it only the ibos working in Lagos that voted for him? Even the Yorubas are tired of APC all because of Buhari. The governorship election took a turn when your people started boasting of unseating Sanwo-olu you sef think am naaaa it doesn't make sense.

Yoruba community in Abia state cannot be declaring openly that they will unseat Otti.

And lastly, I was discussing politics with MI ibo drycleaner last year and this same issue cropped up. I directed a question to him and I will also direct the same question to you.

You are a landlord in an estate; it's time to elect the estate chairman and other landlords have showed interest and started campaigns. Some of your tenants are now pasting the posters of your opponent on the wall of your house rooting for your opponent to win the estate chairmanship position. They were even discussing it in your compound that your opponent must win at all cost. Though it's within their constitutional rights to vote for whoever they want. There are even some tenants that came in with financial problems who didn't even complete your rent but you still assisted them. You even gave some of them job and contracts. Please with all sincerety, how will you feel ?
I chose to reply you because you sound sincere and reasonable.

But I don't think you understand Tinubu's politics very well.

The issue of Lagos APC labelling any Governorship candidate that is not of APC as Igbo person didn't start in the last Lagos state guber election.

Lagos APC did it to Jimmy Agbaje several times labeling him Omo Igbo that wants to help Igbos take over Lagos. Use Google and you will find the campaign messages all over the internet.

They even did same to Ambode when they noticed that Igbos were hailing Ambode as a good Governor that helped in building good infrastructures in Lagos, immediately they noticed Igbos were supporting Ambode, they quickly discarded him.

It didn't start with Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour.

What amplified it was Tinubu losing Lagos to Peter Obi, Tinubu and his APC goons went on rampage inciting Yorubas against Igbos saying Igbos call Lagos a no man's land as if that slogan started in 2023.

It was a former Lagos state Governor Lateef Jakande of Yoruba origin that started that statement of Lagos is a no man's land that everybody should feel at home which Igbos have been using funly for decades until last year that Tinubu's APC goons decided to capitalize on it to incite Yorubas against Igbos because they felt if APC lose Lagos to LP, that it was not going to be easy for Tinubu as President, so they became desperate and went overboard.

Igbos and Yorubas hardly voted along same pattern for decades, even when the contest was between two Yorubas, Igbos voted Obasanjo while Yorubas went for Olu Falae.

The only time Igbos and Yorubas voted same pattern was Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 elections.

So you cannot exonerate Tinubu as a sectional tribal leader, he is leading the Yorubas of our time astray, but only time will make you people realize the harm Tinubu is doing to the entire Yorubas. It will look all good now, but over time, you guys will realize the harm.

Tinubu is trying too hard to outshine Obasanjo among Yorubas and to make you Yorubas see him as a better Awolowo, and in the process he is going overboard and leading Yorubas astray with bad precedents he has been setting which others will definitely reference on when the time comes.

So it's all about Tinubu and his tribalistic and divisive type of politics nothing more

Lol. Yoruba's egungun can parade their state na. It's a no-brainer.

But igbo masquerade can't parade yoruba land. They should respect themselves.

You hit the nail on the head. Very soon, the Igbos will struggle to find more than a few safe sanctuaries across Nigeria and even the world.

There are good people in that tribe but they are too few compared to the very senseless majority who are now triggering every other tribe and even other countries due to their aggressive and expansionist tendencies.

I just feel sorry for their future generations. If things don’t change now, just the mention of your Igbo name in future will automatically close doors against you.

I am not talking about cross town masquerades, the poster talked about masquerades from other towns is why I brought up Tapa/Ẹgba Igunnuko.

I am also not comparing Igunnuko to anything, just explaining Tapa are a proud people that are originally from a different place and have now become what they are in Yorubaland. The beauty of peaceful integration.

I knew people ages ago who could identify Tapa people just by their mannerisms, I doubt that this generation and the immediate previous one can.

I am almost certain I have seen Ndigbo masquerades in Lagos before, this was a long time ago though and well before Obidients started stirring the pot.

Whilst the decision to not bring the masquerade over at this point in time is a sensible one, it is my hope that things change in the future.
I doubt anything will change if what we've seen daily is anything to go by, not when Igbo people continue to feed their children with anti-Yoruba sentiments.

Why do Yorubas love forcing everybody to believe that Igbos are the demon while Yorubas are the Saints

Speak for your Yoruba people and leave Igbos to face their challenges with the rest of the world like you put it. Always trying so hard to force the world to believe Igbos are bad.

I wonder when it became a crime to celebrate your culture in foreign lands where you reside.

Something Yorubas ought to have welcomed with joy and trooped out to watch for fun like it's done everywhere including abroad

What stops Yorubas in Southeast from bringing Eyo Masquerade to Owerri or Onitsha or Aba or Enugu to entertain people there? This is just entertainment just as Burns Boy entertains the world in Yoruba dialect abroad

Lagbaja wears his mask to sing and entertain people and everybody is happy

Why is this different, is this not part of culture and entertainment?

Yorubas are becoming shameless and too toxic and you guys won't know it. Continue thinking you are fighting Igbos, continue

Honestly the last election caused a lot of damage to the relationship between the yorubas and the igbos. Before now, the yorubas do not care if igbo man is Eze in Lagos, or masquerade of nnewi coming to Lagos or igbos appointed commissioners all of a sudden the yorubas are now becoming hostile to anything igbo. I would say the igbos are the architect of whatever the yorubas of Lagos are dishing out to them right now.
For peace to reign, let everyone stay in their regions and perform traditional masquerade dance as they like. It is excesses taking the gods of a region to a different region. The gods of the second region will be angry.

The masquerade’s body is adorned with a variety of dead animals, live animals, and crawling insects, enhancing its potency of charms, it also produces Smokes, often seen emanating from Ajofia Nnewi’s head of which must not be inhaled by anyone against it or anyone that speaks or thinks evil about it….

Same reason it carrries “anunu ebe,” a tree under which no bird perches and no plant can grow.
