Good day, everyone. I need your advice on something.

I’m planning to buy a car next month, and my budget is 16 million Naira.

The two cars I’m considering are:
1. Toyota Avalon 2016
2. Hyundai Sonata 2016

Here’s the dilemma:
• With my budget, I can afford a foreign-used Hyundai Sonata 2016.
• Alternatively, I can afford a Nigerian-used Toyota Avalon 2016.

That’s why I’m seeking your advice. Which option should I go for?
• The foreign-used Hyundai Sonata 2016
• Or the Nigerian-used Toyota Avalon 2016

I would really appreciate your suggestions and opinions.

Buy the Avalon, if you must buy Sonata then just buy C300 or E350 instead because the operating costs are very similar unlike Toyota that is cheaper with better reliability.

Hello, good evening. My honest suggestion, the Toyota Avalon Would be a better pick here. the 2016 Sonata’s theta II engine both GDI AND MPI
has a major flaw which is costly and if you must know Hyundai Parts don’t come cheap, also most 2016 Sonata imported has the gdi 2.4l variant in it. If you choose to get either vehicles just make sure you have someone do a comprehensive check on them most especially the Avalon. I offer such service if in Lagos contact @ 08028992075

You'll most likely regret going for the 2016 sonata, those gdi engines are terrible, with good maintenance they still blow up, it's a manufacturing flaw, Hyundai does free engine replacement in the US because of the judgement from a class action lawsuit, the engines are in short not reliable, if it was a pre 2011 Sonata I'd say to go for it, I don't know if the 2020's and newer are reliable (probably too early to say).
A Nigerian used Avalon 🤔, buy only after a very good inspection by a trusted and competent mechanic, make sure car is in great condition and hasn't been grossly abused before deciding to purchase, won't be a bad move to also look at Honda.

Your budget can afford only the sonata.

No need to compare.

An avalon is better than the sonata anyway.
