Religious palaver again. Is it not better we focus on how to survive this T-pain? One needs to feed well to worship God. But since the thick dust of religious intolerance has overwhelmed us again, let's spare some time to discuss it. Religion seems to have done more harm than good to Nigerians. This is not because religion is intrinsically evil but because evil people continue to disabuse religion and repurpose it for their selfish economic and political interests. Lies from pulpits, deception, fake prophecies and manipulation of religion by the clerical class have created doubt in many who now question the existence of God. This is the reason many Nigerians today have the temerity to say God does not exist. It is sad to note that statement like "I don't believe in God" is freely uttered. A good friend of mine reconnected with me, having lost contact for more than two decades. As one discussion led to the other, he later disclosed that he is an avowed atheist. I knew him to be a Christian. An atheist! I exclaimed. "Yes," he said. He even bragged about it and told me he is enjoying his life as a free man—having nothing to do with religion and God. This is serious! But he is not alone. There are many like him. In this category is one so-called British-based Nigerian lady who just assumed the leadership of the British Conservative Party. I find her name too worthless to mention because she cannot be lumped together with a Nigerian like me who is from the North. I think I should sympathize with the respected Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah—a northerner—who recently showered enconmium on this cantankerous lady in a column titled "... :Some thoughts and a prayer," published in Premium Times last week (10th of December). I inputted the ellipsis (...) in the title of Rev. Kukah's article for the name I consider too foul to write with my keyboard. Rev. Kukah congratulated her for what many considered an extraordinary feat and even prayed for her. This is expected of a reverend father who should indiscriminately celebrate Nigerian record breakers—whether from the North or from the South. But the shameless and ungrateful lady would later cast Rev. Kukah in the same mould as Boko Haram due to her worrisomely unfortunate ignorance of the North's composition and her pathological hatred for northerners. She is also too ignorant to know that atheists like her are in the North. Anyway, I don't blame her. I blame the Vice President Kashim Shettima who chose to fight pig (get down and dirty), rather than challenge his principal, President Bola Tinubu, to good governance. For before this foul-mouthed lady became wild and untamed, I don't see anything wrong in what she said and for the grudges she holds against Nigerian government. Since our rulers in Abuja cannot bury their heads in shame, they should have lampooned her with evidence of good governance. But where is the good governance? Instead, Mr Shettima gets down and dirty. This intoxicated the loquacious lady to categorize all northerners as Boko Haram. Nonsense. The point is: the argument of whether Jesus is God or not should not make the news headline. But since it has been headlined and the discussion is gathering momentum, here are some observations and recommendations. Though I know that the banner with "Jesus Christ is not God" written boldly on it would be irritating to those who believe Jesus is God; I never new it will elicit such reactions. I thought it will be tolerated by those who would not be comfortable with it. I grew up in AJ City in Lagos (I mean Ajegunle). "Jesus is God" is a common inscription everywhere. Some replace "God" with "Lord" to read "Jesus is Lord." You find "Jesus is God" on banners, signboards, posters, etc. You find it inscribed on buses, t-shirts, bags, etc. To the atheists who do not believe God exists, saying "Jesus is God" is the height of absurdity. It is also irritating to the Muslims who do not believe that a mortal who eats, drinks, farts, defecates, and even captured by enemies and allegedly nailed to the cross can be God. But because everyone enjoys freedom of religion, people turn a blind eye to some of these irritating inscriptions. That is religious tolerance. Well, I don't know why, in an unusual manner, the Lekki Mosque decided to negate the affirmation in "Jesus is God" to "Jesus Christ is not God" through inscription on banner. This could be a new method of religious propagation. The mosque has the inalienable right to change its merhod(s) for propagation. It should be noted that there is nothing new in the doctrine that Jesus is not God. Every Muslim knows this by default as article of faith. In addition, significant number of Christians in Nigeria and across the globe also believe Jesus is not God. In a report last year (2023) by The Bible Study based in the United Kingdom, 52% of Americans do not regard Jesus as God but as a great teacher. So, what is the hullabaloo all about? Yet, I am of the opinion that Lekki Mosque should be sued for saying Jesus is not God by those who find it problematic. The case should be settled in a special court. High-powered panel of judges should be constituted to look into the matter. The judges should include learned Christians and Muslims in theology. It should also include learned atheists in atheology and experts of Nigerian legal system. To determine Lekki Mosque's "trespassing," the judges would have a lot of legal issues to deal with. One, they should help to establish whether it is a fact or a fallacy that Jesus is God from the Bible (whichever version(s) they choose to work with). Two, they should help to verify whether the Lekki Mosque's assertion that "Jesus is not God" is a Qur'anic doctrine or not. Three, another term of reference is to help identify the religions that have the constitutional right to express their doctrines on banner and those that do not. Four, they should also work around the clock to determine the religions that must tolerate others and those (religions) that should not tolerate others. If Jesus is proven to be God by this high-powered panel of judges, they should not forget to explain when he (Jesus) actually became God. Nigerians would like to know if there was God before Jesus was born (to become God) since humans had existed on earth for thousands of years before the virgin and miraculous birth. If there was no God before Jesus, who created the world and directed world affairs before Jesus? If there was God before Jesus became God, what happened to that God? Did He expire or die or just disappear? When Jesus who is believed to be God by some Christians was crucified and died on the cross, which God took over the control of the world from him? I believe Jesus is one of the greatest man (prophet) that ever lived. But because I am easily persuaded by sound evidence and logic, it is possible that the doctrine that says "Jesus is God" will make sense to me (and possibly to many Nigerians) if the above philosophical questions are satisfactorily answered to prove Jesus as the Godhead. If Lekki Mosque cannot establish its claim from the Qur'an, and it is established that the Nigerian Constitution only grants one religion (not the one practiced in Lekki Mosque) the right to inscribe its doctrine on banner, the mosque should be made to face the wrath of the law. If otherwise, the court should encourage other mosques across the country to emulate Lekki Mosque by inscribing "Jesus is not God" on large banners so that those who find it problematic will get used to it the way atheists and Muslims got used to "Jesus is God" even though it is against their beliefs without raising an eyebrow. You have written a brilliant message and I love to say I am impressed by your level of clear-headiness to have been able to write without any form of bias which is something a lot of people are clearing missing in the country today. I wholeheartedly support your views and I think it will be important to include more inscriptions like Prophet Mohammed is a Paedophile, Allah has two right hands, Mohammed stole a red pant, Mohammed slept with a female corpse, etc.... churches can put up such banners stating the above on the walls of their churches and place of worship... just the same way the Lekki mosque has done and anyone who is offended will get used to it and move on same way as you have recommended in your write up. I hope you can see what you are doing? Islam is a religion of peace yet those practising it in Nigeria are not peaceful. I have been to Saudi Arabia for Umrah even as a Christian, I have been to Israel and I have been to Tehran in Iran and a host of countries in the Middle East and I can assure you that the Muslim Umrah are way educated and tolerant than what we have here in Nigeria. Imagine what you are scholar is proposing? You are trying to stoke the embers of religious war, what is so hard in leaving someone with his own religion and practices? But the moment someone talks about your religion and your prophet, you want the whole world to burn. Imagine, you thought all your readers are as dumb as hell, if you dont know what you are doing, others know what they are doing... Justabdul1: 1 Like |

1. The North is Boko Haram. Live with it! If it hurts you enough, you'll hold your leaders accountable. 2. Kemi Badenoch doesn't give a flying f**k about you or your useless political and religious leaders. 3. Whether the banner was removed or not, it should never happen again. We'll never condone any chaos brought about by religion in the SW. 4. Finally, you're very stupid to think your opinion matters or that we shouid pretend it does. Now, start crying. |

I don't have strenght right now to reply the lack of objectivity and the subtle call for terrorism and public disorder encouraged in the writeup, however, I will drop this piece I've written here. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 All these fake imported religion have destroyed the normal mental processes of a lot of our people. Know for fact that: There is no heaven, there is no hell, there is no God (or god), there is no Allah, there are no angels, there are no demons, there are no spirits, there is no life after death, juju don't work, there is no eternal judgment, there is no karma, there was no historical Jesus. All those are figment of human imaginations and tools use by a very few some to control the very many others. The earlier you understand and accept these facts as facts, the happier and merrier your life and existence will be. The religion you're currently claiming is the religion of your parents, if you were born into a different family of another religion (say Hinduism), that is the exact religion you will practice. You were born without a religion in you, your factory reset has no religion in it. If you were to be a phone and they do factory reset on you today being a phone, there will not be anything found related to religion in your settings, files and file systems anymore; you learn religion only after your birth growing up. Islam is idolatry and paganism, Christianity aswell is idolatry - All the world religion is idolatry, including all the Abrahamic religion. Holy communion is idolatory, bowing for a stone call Kaaba of the Bedouin tribes is also idolatory. licking of stone at mecca is idolatory, throwing of stone at pilgrimage is idolatory too. Infact, Illah is what the Arabic call God and not Allah (the moon god). Allah was one of the diety been worshiped before the invention of Islam. That is why muslims will say something like "la ilah ila huwa" meaning Allah is one Illah (God). Have you ask yourself why Prophet Mohammed's father who was an idol worshiper and who lived before the invention of islam has Allah in is name Abdullai== Abdu Allah? It is because Allah has been an idol worshiped by paganists before the Prophet received his revelations. All Abrahamic religion are idolatory, they only package them well and condemn your heritage as evil, whereas, Nigeria was better in terms of morality, honesty and integrity before they brought the foreign religions. In peace loving, emotional intelligence, love for neighbor, respect for sanctity of life, we are even better than those who brought those religion with primitive leaders whose morality and characters are highly questionable. |

Don't start what you can't finish. I assure the other sides have more colorfully distasteful but factual banners that they can print. The only issue is that the writer will claim "blasphemy" should everybody decide to tow the Lagos mosque line. Yes, the Lagos mosque banner is actually a blasphemy to the other side's faith. |

Xisnin:We are responding to a banner by Muslims claiming that Jesus is not God. In this post, we will do three things: Establish from Scripture that Jesus is God. Show the source of this doctrine in the Quran. Explain why the Quran is unreliable and cannot abrogate the Bible. 1. Jesus is God According to the Bible The Bible confirms that Jesus is God. We will highlight three key instances from the Gospels. The Trials of Jesus: When the ruling councils of Jerusalem sought to convict Jesus for blasphemy, they needed His admission that He was God. They asked Him directly, and His response was clear. Mark 14:61-62: "But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, 'Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?' Jesus said, 'I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.'" Luke 22:70: "Then they all said, 'Are You then the Son of God?' So He said to them, 'You rightly say that I am.'" Jesus affirmed that He was the Son of God, and this claim led to His death sentence. The Blind Man Healed: Jesus also declared His divinity to the man He healed. John 9:35-38: "Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said, ' Do you believe in the Son of God?' He answered and said, 'Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?' And Jesus said to him, 'You have both seen Him, and it is He who is talking with you.' Then he said, 'Lord, I believe!' And he worshiped Him." The blind man worshipped Jesus because He revealed Himself as the Son of God. The Testimony of Others: Many others also declared Jesus to be God. John 6:68-69: Peter said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." John 4:42: The Samaritan townspeople confessed, "This is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world." John 1:49: Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!" John 20:28: Thomas exclaimed, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus' own testimony, along with the testimony of others, confirms that He is God. 2. The Quran's Doctrine of Jesus Not Being God The Quran’s claim that Jesus is not God is based on sources that are known fabrications and forgeries. Muslims often rely on the Gospel of Barnabas, which they call the Injeel Barnaba. However, this gospel is not mentioned in the first 1,300 years of Christianity or Islam. It was written in Italian and Spanish in the 14th century, long after Jesus and Muhammad. It contains historical inaccuracies, such as claiming Jesus sailed to Nazareth (a landlocked town) and mentions Muhammad by name, even though Muhammad lived centuries later. It also erroneously states that Jesus was born under Pontius Pilate's rule, though Pilate governed much later. 3. The Quran’s Reliance on Fabricated Stories The Quran borrows heavily from forged stories, including the claim that Jesus turned clay into a living bird as a child. This story comes from the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas. Gospel of Thomas (2:1-4): "...And having made soft clay, he fashioned thereof twelve sparrows. And it was the Sabbath when he did these things." Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:110): "You made a bird out of clay, breathed into it, and it became a bird by My permission." This tale is a Gnostic fabrication from the second to third centuries, long after the time of Thomas. 4. The Quran's Contradiction of Historical Facts The Quran claims to be a continuation of previous Scriptures, yet it often contradicts historical facts. When it does, Muhammad would abrogate the Scriptures, ignoring well-established historical truths. Jesus claimed to be God, and the Scriptures confirm this. Christians have always believed in the divinity of Jesus, even to the point of martyrdom. For 600 years, Christians held this belief until Muhammad, who was illiterate, came on the scene. The Bible is true, both historically and divinely. The Jesus in the Quran is not the same as the Jesus in the Bible, and the God in the Quran is not the same as the God in the Bible. Jesus is God. Muhammed lied, like John said false prophets would: 1 John 4:3 "..but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world." Muhammed denies Jesus is God. May God bring all Muslims to the light of the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. 1 Like |
