It's a valid word, you only got the spelling wrong. The correct spelling is perambulate. I bet your lecturer used it to describe efulefu students too.

Ours is British English not American's. That word is wrong. Could be correct in American English.
The fact remains that "practicalize" is used both in US and in Britain.
Practicalise is the misspelt version.
