I'm a Federal Civil service worker earning a gross salary of N300k. But considering the Economic meltdown and inflation in this country, this is no more able to take care of my family and personal needs.
Do you think moving in to Moscow is a better option for me or staying back on my Job. The job available in Russia is kind of menial work (side hustle) with an offer of admission, Master's Degree.
Please a good candid advice is needed to help me make decisions.
MOD please help to push to front page.

More information is needed. While 300k is not great in Nigeria's current state, can you let us know what immigration/ settlement/ job prospects your Masters program provides after you are done? Have you considered other countries?

It's just an Msc in health field (Biotechnology), I also have another offer in public health. But the truth is that I may not really say there's a great prospects after the Msc program. The scholarship covers the tuition fee alone,. The student sort himself/herself out for any other payments (flight tickets, immigration, embassy , settlement when you arrive etc). The work over there like I stated earlier is just menial jobs. It might take Grace for one to get good paying jobs.

For other countries I may not have the heavy financial requirements and protocols, compared to this offer via which I'm trying to use Education route to japa.

Just that I'm a bit biased, if I should quit the govt work and leave for Moscow , Russia.

You know what a lot of people seek abroad after school? Settlement...and many don't get it.

It's good to travel out and get a new degree but it comes with high challenges. You're literally restarting as a fresh graduate from uni and it will take a while (except you're lucky) to find your feet and comfort zone from where you can continue to develop. It's a two way junction and you may not know where you'd end up.

You situation will judge a lot. How old are you, are you married, with kids? Can you hustle manual labour? How many years can you spare yourself to make this transition?

If your answer is favourable, go to Russia, if not, enjoy your job security in peace and try to expand your income.

I hope others chime in but if I were in this situation, I would let it pass.
You want to leave Nigeria because 300k is a stretch for your wife and kids. When you become a student and your tiny allowance from your menial job in Russia is only enough to cover your living expenses what money will you send home to this family you are concerned about.

Second Russa is in a war right now. Resources are scarce for citizens. Whenever resources become scarce in western nations the first casualties are immigrants - black and then Indian immigrants. You may not even get the menial job except you are ready to work in processing plants producing toxic material.

If you believe in God and grace, ask God to open a door to scholarship elsewhere. Keep trying. Since you have gotten one scholarship you can get it again. Research universities in Scandinavia and Iceland.

Poster I wouldn't advice you resign from your work to Japa. Apply for study leave with pay if it's possible then accept the scholarship program. Go there and test the waters, if after the program you can't find your feet there then you come back to your job or from there go to another country.

Russia isn’t that great. Find a better country and keep your 300k job.

Look for a better country, not Russia. Look for countries where scholarships are bountiful and the tuition fees are lower. I am conversant with Japan as I studied here on generous scholarships and as I stated in this post: https://www.nairaland.com/8275359/burkina-faso-journey-no-return/6#133026287 I don't know any African student who paid FULL tuition fees. The recent one I was told is a Nigerian who got into my erstwhile university as a postdoc earning 6 million yen per annum. Postdoc is hard o, especially after a PhD (he was also fully sponsored), but this is why you should forsake Russia for better options. It must not be Japan, Taiwan, China, South Korea etc,, are there with munificent scholarships.

It is your task to find them.

Thank you very much. I believe in God and Grace. I'm not yet married, but next year most likely. But I take care of mum and few family things. I appreciate you.

If you're not yet married and you plan to japa. Better don't marry until you settle your japa oh.

Many times the only option left is to seek asylum or marry a citizen when the broad way of gaining PR (securing a good job) remains elusive. Asylum rejection is high npw and is only increasing but meanwhile there are lots of beautiful Nigerian, african women with pali abroad looking for a good man to settle with. Although they will show you pepper if you can't stand for yourself.

Being married would put you at a serious disadvantage.
