It's been ages. Books, like movies, are the author's opinion and a figment of his imagination.

I don't read or listen to contrary opinions. grin grin grin cheesy cheesy cheesy grin grin grin cheesy cheesy

Keep your opinion to yourself. Don't share it with me. sad shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

I only read the Bible.
There's different types of books covering Differnt topics.
Science books (engineering, physics, chemistry) are typically written by people who have done certain experiments and and are giving you their results
Some will do ABCD, others will do CDEF. So they resemble, but are not totally the same.
The Bible you are reading mostly likely has 66 books. The Catholic bible has 73 books.
So even the bible you are reading is not even complete.

What’s the purpose of reading different books that may not even have any significance?

The question is what improvements and personal developments have you made

In other countries, people read books for knowledge, Personal development, transformation, and bringing a solution to Problems.
Nigerians read books Just for fun
Shut the hell up, people all over the world read for fun and there's nothing wrong with that. After all the noise you make I bet you don't know anything of substance undecided

So many dullards in this country. You turn your noses up at people reading for fun, meanwhile you waste many hours watching TV and many more hours scrolling through the dumbest content on social media.

And then there are the ignoramuses making noise about self development and hustling yet their lives are no better than the people they are trying to feel superior to.

I'm always amused whenever people despise fiction readers.

Anyone who thinks there is nothing to learn from fiction is obviously not bright.

I made a bit of a bad joke, though, spoken with some touch of honesty. grin grin grin Some non-religious books are actually very helpful. cheesy cheesy cheesy

But contrary to what you think, the bible is actually very, very complete whether you choose the 66 or 73 or the Ethiopian Orthodox 85+ books.

Someone once said and I agree in totality that if the Israelite had not sinned, there wouldn't have been a need for God to give any other book besides the book of Joshua that chronicles how the land was conquered.

This is a dumb opinion inspired by hardship. Anyone can read for leisure, whether they be a billionaire or a homeless person.

You cannot gatekeep people's reasons for reading or what they gain from it. Implying that reading books should automatically improve one's standard of living, while ignoring the real determinants of wealth like environment, family and economy, is the sort of thing someone like you who doesn't read would think undecided

Oh please, allow the lady breath.

Take it from an avid reader, it's impossible, I say again impossible to be a reader and your life not improving. It simply means the person is not wise or has circumstances beyond the physical impeding growth.

The proof of wisdom is sound judgement, that come from knowledge and experience. How can someone who enjoys reading, who buys knowledge and experience from the books they read not have an improved living?

Oh please spare me any excuse. Even if what they read is novels.

Nigerians read books for reading’s sake. They don’t do it to better their lives. It reminds me of an entry I saw here once; people who dwelled in a slum. In that slum resided a book merchant. He had consumed over 300 books and counting. The knowledge he got from them was endless quotes from great men. He still lived in his one-bedroom tent with a pit toilet located metres away.

I read a couple
The 8th habit
Atomic habits
Conversations on faith
Understanding the power and purpose of Men by Miles Monroe
Success Systems by David Oyedepo
Seeing what is sacred
Etc
And a few fictional works and autobiographies. I prefer hard copies to Ebooks. There's something about hard copies that just makes the reading experience sweeter

This is beautiful 😍

Yes!
Though this your question sounds sarcastic, but I can assure you that I have some landed properties and more are yet to come. Before the end of 2025, I would have started building a house by God's grace! 🙏
