Anyone who says the tax reform bill isn't for the best interest of the Yorubas is lying to you.

Why should VAT be based on 60% derivation and crude oil on 13%?

If you provide answers to the above, then you will see what Tinubu intend to do

VAT is a consumption tax , petroleum profits tax is not. The senate president is from an oil producing state, same with People like Wike and oil minister. Why are they not pushing for increase in derivation

How will the VAT favour Yoruba when it will take away lagos headquarters advantage

If the bill is not going to favour your region, that means your region might have been parasite to others

Yes it will favour the yorubas and spend up the break of Nigeria.

My people are tired of funding this country

Ofodirinwa:
mumu niger delta negotiated 13% with their brain
At that time we had like just 5%.
Now we want 50%

The only thing I am against tax reform bill is gradual increase of VAT rate from 7.5% to 15%

If it doesn't favour your state, then start to drink beer. By the way Benue state govt has introduced Zeva beer, urging Benue people to patronize the beer.

These Hisba people destroying beer should know that they re destroying their allocation from VAT. You can't call beer Haram and still have long throat for tax on revenue derived from consumption of beer.

A lot of illiterates on nairaland.
At least,if one lacks comprehension, one can beg somebody literate to read and explain the tax form properly before coming online to spew ignorance.

Lagos presently enjoys the headquarters'privilege, this has been taken away by the bill, which makes Lagos state take15% instead of 85% it presently enjoys.
Tinubu is just going for equity that will be beneficial to all.

.Just go through the history of Nigeria,Yorubas do not depend on Nigeria but vice Versa.
They don't need oil to be the best and richest region because they have always been over the years even without the ports, custom etc.

Ibadan without ports, oil, customs etc,was the richest, most developed part of Nigeria during regionalism until Nigeria was turned to a unitary system of govt' nation.

Imo State should never agree to the Petroleum bill that was signed by buhari into law some years back. That law is by far the most apartheid legal instrument in Nigeria politics today. States in the North stand to make more money from just hosting gas pipelines that will siphon Gas products evacuated mainly from the east. These over pampered northern states contribute ZERO gas to the project! These are the legacies of the evil APC.

If Lagos and co are going to take everything through tinubus amorphous taxlaw, just because of the high concentration of businesses over there (businesses that sre there by virtue of lagos being a former political capital and current commercial capital of the country), then Imo, Abia and Anambra states should prepare to agitate and grab everything from the enormous amounts of gas that are about to be evacuated from these states. Thats the right thing to do, since it is now all about grab grab and grab for your region if you becomea president.

You can't be changing the laws and the goalposts to suit your nepostistic penchants for greater looting and expect everything to be okay.

He was not referring to Benue as a Hisbah State rather, he was referring to the Northern States that destroys beer with the help of their Hisbah.

Did I say Benue state govt is destroying beer. No.
Did I say Benue state has hisba. No

I gave examples, one is that state govt can start their own beer production and encourage their citizens to apologize them. I used Benue state as an example
Second is that using guise of hisba to destroy beer, such states are destroying their VAT allocation.

The fact is that I beat for your baseless argument that doesn't hold water. You resorted to deliberate misconstrue of my comments.

Why not engage the Committee with facts. The first person to demand for VAT justice at the Apex Court was Wike.

It took PMB to settle from back doors for the case to pipe low.

Legally the VAT should be collected by and paid to the states hence this is going through the courts at the present time hence 100% derivatives. The push is primarily by Rivers State.

The FG attempt is not to loose out entirely so they are not fighting for any state or region. This is an attempt at a negotiated settlement.

Validated:

Mbè, Niger-Delta negotiated 60%, Obasanjo, a Yoruba man reduced it to 13%

That's to show how powerful we Yorubas are. And to show how irrelevant you igbos are. And we've decided to make it that way (you wonder why you bums are always crying with threads like "why Yorubas will not support igbos to leave nigeria"You know you are our slaves, and you'll always be). grin grin.

Nigeria Delta has just noise makers ... No single politician is there... Instead of strongman woke to liaz with his people to fight injustice, he is their fighting them for tinubu's peanut.... Mumu man

You lot are as dense as a bag of igneous rocks. It's actually entertaining when you evil forest dwellers expose your ignorance gleefully in public space. I don't know if it's willful ignorance borne out of hate and the sorrow of February 2023, or it's just genetic low braincell count (most probably the latter, as has been shown from generation to generation of you bonobos). The tax bill is reducing money accruing to Lagos and other states with the HQ of companies (mainly Lagos and Ogun). Conclusion (by lower creatures): the tax bill is made to favour Yorubas.

You are comparing an apple with an orange.

Crude oil is a mineral resource; VAT is a contribution from value adding business activities. Completely different things.

Proceeds from mineral resources are shared for the benefit of the entire country where the resource is sourced. This is global practice. In Nigeria all land with mineral resources is vested in the FG.

Oil from Alaska does not majorly benefit Alaska alone but the entire US.

However, an extra benefit is reserved for the location where the oil is gotten to cater for environmental impact of the activities. A 13% extra is reasonable in this light. 60% is outright ridiculous in light of current Nigerian laws and global best practices.

VAT is proportional to the level of business activities generated in a location. This is not a natural resource matter. So it is reasonable to allocate the majority to where the activities that resulted in people paying more tax came from. This is also global best practice.

And you expect a Supreme Court imposed governor in Imo state to challenge the same people that imposed him on the good people of Imo State? Why did they impose him there in the first place? Is it not to allow them do stuff like this?
