Will You Follow ?

Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, 'Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go'".

Matthew 8:19

Mary Tacha was a receptionist. Her husband was a minster of the gospel. It came to a point in his life where he needed her to work along side him in his ministry. She really loved her job as a receptionist for a big multinational but she also considered assisting her dear husband in his divine assignment very necessary so she quit her job to work with him.

When we are called to leave what we are doing to do something else for someone else it is not always an easy decision to make. It may be easier when what we are doing is not really significant and then we leave for something more significant. What happens when that which we have to leave is very precious to us. Would we take the same decision? Would we leave an environment or a job where we are highly paid for something that pays less at the initial instance.

When God calls us to serve him. He doesn't always call us to services that are easy going and straight. Sometimes we may need to leave something important to us for his call to be fulfilled. There are times when he may still want us to continue with our tasks while doing what he has destined for us to do and there are times when he calls us to leave our task. In whatever instance we may find ourselves it is important to note that God expects us to do that which he has called us to do with focus and dedication.

In the Bible reading the scribe said " I will follow you but another said " Let me go and bury my father first"
When God calls us we must put his call first before anything else. We must make him a priority. Those who want to be used greatly by God must make his call a priority. Serving God requires dedication and commitment which we can demonstrate by putting God first.

Reflect on these

Has God called you to do something for him ?

Have you placed him first?

Key Point: Those dedicated to God place his assignment as a priority for their lives.

Prayer: Lord help me to prioritize you in my life and do what you need me to do first.
