Some Disruptive Campaign Promises Which Our Leaders Are Finding Very Difficult by BluntCrazeMan: 9:12am On Jan 08
Good Morning Nairalanders...

I will be dropping some series of points here which I will tag #DisruptiveCampaignPromises#.
..

With these points, I will be suggesting some disruptive (change-bringing) campaign points for the Aspiring Presidential Candidates who really want a great change for our Country.

THESE PROMISES MAY NOT SIT WELL WITH A LOT OF READERS HERE.!!
BUT NEVERTHELESS, THEY ARE WRITTEN BY ME IN GOOD FAITH.

I MEAN GOOD FOR OUR COUNTRY.
I DON'T INTEND TO JUDGE ANYBODY, OR TO MAKE ANYBODY FEEL GUILTY.

1. Campaign about bringing about strict transparency and accountability in governance.
There should be undeterred and free online/realtime access to ALL supposedly PUBLIC Government Information.

CAN ANY OF THE CURRENT OR PAST PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANTS AND/OR CANDIDATES PROMISE THIS.??

2. Campaign about enabling unrestricted public Participation And Inputs in governance.

That-is, a promise to establish “E-Governance Platforms” where people can drop their opinions, reactions, criticisms, & feedbacks; and then, get these opinions, reactions, criticisms, & feedbacks promptly responded to and acted upon.

3. Campaign about developing institutionalized, automated, & automatic policies, which would create strong independent systems, minimize human interference, maximize outputs, and enhance prompt information availability to the public.

4. Campaign about amending the Constitution in such a way that all the arms and tiers of government shall statutorily publish & publicize their Audited Annual Financial Records, as well as their budget performance for each passing year.

5. Campaign about amending the Implementation of the items in the “Concurrent List” of the Constitution, such that harmonized legislative laws can be made at both the federal and state levels for the items on the concurrent list, in order to avoid conflicts of interests.

6. Campaign about amending some of the Laws which established some of the federal institutions & parastatals that are not on the “Exclusive List” of the Constitution, yet these federal institutions and parastatals are working in the various States without the input and proper liaison from these States, causing these institutions not to have adequate grassroot data and statistics for them to work with. Thus, these federal institutions and parastatals are supposed to properly harmonized with the state-governments where they are working - at the state-levels of such institutions and parastatals.

7. Campaign about putting in place systemic, instantaneous, automatic, adequate, and proportionate sanctions/punishments for wrongdoings, as well as adequate and proportionate rewards for good deeds.

That it is “systemic”, it means that the sanctions and/or rewards are already established, and are not easily thwarted.

8. Campaign about improving the GRASSROOTS INVOLVEMENT in security intelligence-gathering, and active public participation in the GDP-Growth.
(GDP-Growth is not achieved by the Government activities alone, but mainly by the activities of the people)

9. Campaign about Decentralized Community Policing, where the policing is partly-powered by the communities and their leaders.

This will make the Police Officers to have a high sense of RESPONSIBILITY and OBLIGATION to the People of the Communities.

10. Campaign about amending the Laws governing Policing in Nigeria, such that “Orders From Above” shall no longer be issued arbitrarily or informally or verbally.
It must be a written order.
Such “Orders from Above” shall not be Hidden from the persons who are involved or are affected by it.

11. Campaign about amending the Laws governing the police-communications in such a way that THE POLICE should have dedicated quick service-lines in all the States (+FCT) where the citizens can freely, quickly, and easily call-in and lodge their complaints and/or issues. The citizens can also call-in to dedicated EMERGENCY LINES where they can also Anonymously report urgent issues and emergency situations.

12. Campaign about amending the Laws governing the spending of the Security-Votes of the State Governors in such a way that the State Governments see to the procurement, operation and maintenance of Police Equipments, Apparatuses, and Gadgets in the State -- for the purposes of communications, gathering of intelligence, investigations, and security. This should give the State-Governments a high sense of responsibility towards the Police personnel in their States.

13. Campaign about installing a strict financial system where recklessness, unrecorded incomes & expenses, inappropriate & uncoordinated spendings are minimized & eliminated.

THUS, TO BUILD A SYSTEM WHERE “DATA AND STATISTICS” IS KEY.

14. Campaign about maintaining a robust holistic multi-purpose and multi-functional Citizens Data.

This “Citizens Data” takes record of the productivity, incomes, expenses and the movements and migratory patterns of the citizens, including Identification Purposes too.

15. Campaign about curbing corruption through the re-orientation of the citizens and their mindsets towards appreciating “having true value”, “being enterprising”, “generating wealth” rather than “just getting rich” & “spending money”.

16. Campaign about developing policies that would get the citizens to go into primary and secondary agricultural production, especially the primary farming, and processing of harvested agricultural products.

There are very many numerous untapped potentials in agriculture.

17. Campaign about making all the 36-States (+FCT) to look inwards within themselves and find out all those agricultural & mineral value-chains which they are naturally blessed with, and then help the States to harness these value-chains and make the best revenues out of them.

18. Campaign about amending the Laws governing the extraction of naturally existing minerals (whether they are solid, liquid, or gaseous minerals) in such a way that its extraction is decentralized and well monitored, so that many entities (both private and public) can be LICENSED to partake in it.
The Laws should be amended in such a way that the Licenses are supposed to be issued by the State Governments (+FCT).

19. Campaign about amending the Agricultural Laws in such a way that the State-Governments would give low-interest loans to LICENSED Large-Scale farmers under them, and then, keep accurate data of their inputs and outputs.

20. Campaign about enabling the State-Governments to encourage large-scale private-sector farming, and this would be achieved by subsidizing the agricultural inputs, and then, recovering these subsidies by applying adequate taxes on the Agricultural Outputs.

21. Campaign about amending the laws governing the generation of electricity (from any possible source), and the transmission and distribution of electricity -- in such a way that it is decentralized & monitored.
With this, many entities (both private and public entities) can be LICENSED to partake in it.

22. Campaign about amending the Laws governing Electricity in such a way that it is at the State-Governments (+FCT) who issue LICENSES to the Generators, Transmitters, & Distributors of Electricity, and not the Federal Government. Institutions like NERC are supposed to be properly harmonized in such a way that the State Governments can have their stakes at the State Level of such institutions.

Thank You So Much For Reading Up To This Point..
I so much appreciate.

Thank you for taking your time to write this.

All the point you listed above are all true. Immediately they're sworn in, they forgot about the promises they made during the campaign and focused on looting. It's sad that 100% of the promises they made only 1% would be executed and you wonder the essence of politics in Nigeria and why people are being elected. It's more like they're elected to come and loot and not to work.

I am not disappointed at Tinubu though, because the empty headed president never presented his manifesto, never engaged in any form of debate, never promise to do anything all what he was saying was 'its my turn' so I wouldn't lash him but others have a lot to answer.

Obi's manifesto touched all these areas. Google will affirm this. Nigerians hate the truth and the reason we're suffering this much as a people. You always prefer somebody who will tell you what he can't do in 10 years, that he'll do it within 1 year, if elected.

Here in lagos, tinubu and his people have been using the 4th mainland bridge, affordable housing and a state-owned airport to campaign since 1999. We'd go to the polls like mumu and vote cos these 3 things are key and once they're in place, transport and housing wahala will be reduced drastically.

Late last year, seun of channels asked sanwoolu about the 4th mainland bridge he's been making so much noise about during an interview session and he said seun, no money and the latter burst into laughter and i could understand the message clearly, with the way seun laughed.

Each time my partner and I want to travel to Abuja, I'd have reached the airport, even been sleeping and snoring before his arrival from Lekki phase 1. New York had more than 1 major airport. The state would have earned some cool revenue from this area if well managed. We're becoming wiser now. The lite rail project has been aired during campaigns since 1999. It's neither here nor there today after almost 3 decades. They're just eating the money and inflating contract prices. These are the kinds of stories we like to hear from our politicians.

But we cannot really say that any of them actually deeply campaigned in 2023..

They were just dropping subtle shades on themselves.

The ones that tried were not very specific on the exact things they actually wanted to do, and how they intended to do them..
((Because they were having the fear that their ideas might be stolen.. I understand..))
But in the end,, they just ended up with very shallow campaigns.

If a leader that really wanted the corruption to end comes on board,, he will actually develop a tight system that checkmates both him and his cronies, including the officials in his cabinet..

By the time he leaves office, he will make that system even stronger, so that it won't be so easy for the next government after him to just change its process so easily..

With this,, people will just quickly run away from politics and find better things to do with their lives..

Hopefully, someday, starting with LGA Autonomy, we can grow these issue-based leadership orientation in a bottom-up approach from the local to the Federal Government.

It cannot work from top-down in a decentralised democratic system that we try to imitate in Nigeria. What we have currently is a unitary/centralised/decentralised mismatch.

Peter-Obi only skimmed the surfaces during his campaigns..
He didn't go deep enough.!!

He didn't just give us concrete points which we could have used to judge or assess his performance in case he won..

...

If he is truly sincere to himself,, then he should go deeper and more realistic this time around with his campaigns..

THERE ARE A LOT OF ISSUES HE SHOULD BE CAMPAIGNING WITH..

HE SHOULD JUST GIVE OUT THE DISRUPTIVE CAMPAIGN POINTS..
NOT NECESSARILY THE DETAILS.

HE HIMSELF KNOWS THE REAL DETAILS OF THE PLANS WHICH HE HAS IN MIND FOR HIM TO BRING THE CAMPAIGN POINTS INTO REALITY.
