Secret police? You're a bigger fool than I initially thought. Military police is also part of the "police" in your opinion. Mumu.
you are still disgracing yourself if at all you pass through school…..DSS was a branch of the Nigerian police force, they were trained for specific purposes and part of there functions including fighting any forms of crime and arresting and prosecution of criminals grin

While the military on the other hand, don’t handle civil matters grin stop trying to sound intelligence when you just displaying your ignorance, humble yourself and take correction grin when necessary.

Stop disgracing yourself online. DSS is not part of the police. It is under the NSA. Nobody is asking for precolonial history of the DSS. Your statement is that the DSS is part of the police, and I quickly pointed out your ignorance.

The work of the DSS is totally different from what the police does. It's primary purpose is providing protection for top government officials, gathering intelligence and other federal duties.

Nothing more annoying than these morons roaming around nairaland, dushing out falsehood. Because they are nicknamed 'secret police' doesn't mean they are part of the police, just the same way military police are not part of the police. Mumu.

Congrats, you've successfully gotten a few minutes of my attention, something very hard for me to give on nairaland, especially to dummies. Don't reply me again, it will be a waste.

grin you seem to also lack comprehension issues aside from your glaring ignorance. I never said DSS is part of police but was a part of the police force before it establishment.

Dss is also referred to as secret police which also means that, they have the same powers as the police to arrest and prosecute criminals, or have you ever heard of Dss arresting any criminals and handing them over to the regular police for prosecution?

They are trained and equipped with special hardware and special techniques to fight crime, and that’s what makes them different from your regular police.

Just like the FBI or special units in developed climes, they can arrest any form of criminal most especially high profiled criminals, a case in study is nnamdi Kanu, or why has the dss not handed him over to the police?

Stop trying to sound intelligent and accept corrections grin they operate covertly, that’s why they are not like the regular police grin

Why arrest him instead suing him to court. Are we in a democracy or military regime.

Lets strive for due process and doing things the right way. Most of the comments above cheering the DSS means lots of Nigerians are comfortable with a lawless society and, will do worse if given leadership opportunity.

DSS does not even have a business with this to begin with.

Even the vigilante can arrest someone. Heck, even I can arrest someone, it's called citizens arrest, it doesn't make me the police. I shoukd have ignored you as promised, but it's difficult to ignore a dullard spreading misinformation.

grin indeed you are an arrogant illiterate…so arresting someone also gives you the power to investigate and prosecute?

The moment you started making a useless comparison with the military police which function is strictly to discipline earring military officers, then I knew you were a dullard grin

Hear me and hear well maybe this time, you can read slowly and get it into your thick skull grin

The Dss is a law enforcement agency with the responsibility of arresting all forms of criminals and also with the power to investigate and prosecute, just like the regular police.

I asked a question in my last post which you are still yet to answer. Have you ever heard in the news that Dss conducted an arrest and handed the suspects to the police for investigation and prosecution? Or why has nnamdi Kanu case not handed over to the police?

The Dss is a secret police, and they can investigate all crime and also prosecute, while the military is also a law enforcement agency with responsibility of protecting life’s and arresting criminals but they don’t have the power to investigate and prosecute civilians because that’s not there function in a democratic system, they hand over all criminals to the police to handle that while the Dss can arrest and prosecute grin

I hope this stick to in dull skull grin and like I said before, they were selected from the police force to form a special unit of tactical and covert operations and also gather intelligence grin
