How Far Back Can You Trace Your Lineage ? by AntiZikist: 11:39am On Jan 11 |
Mine goes back to the late 16th century. Funny enough I have some Jewish blood in me through a Marrano great-great grand mother. Not going to do any DNA test for obvious reasons that giving your DNA to these DNA companies can come and haunt you as it can be used to develop specific gene targeting diseases or used to set you up in a criminal trap. My people have an extensive genealogical library which I just found out which most SS coastal people maintain. How far back can you trace your lineage ? 1 Like |

AntiZikist:I can trace as far back as my grandmother. I don't have any interest tracing my ancestry beyond that 2 Likes |

The only thing I know is that my paternal grandparents are Pedis of Ndebele descent while my maternal grandmother is mixed, half white and half Pedi, even though she never got to know who her white father was and was raised as a Pedi... She's lucky to be alive because from what I heard, ladies from her village back in those days used to kill their mixed babies upon giving birth to them to cover their shame... And my maternal grandfather is a full Pedi. I'm now married to a Sotho man, my children's ancestry will be mixed like a seven colours Sunday dish...😅😅😅 1 Like |
