Born from a deep desire to challenge stereotypes and empower local artisans, African Things is more than a brand—it’s a movement. It started in 2013 when I realized how much of the world misunderstood Africa. My experiences studying abroad opened my eyes to the skewed perceptions many hold about our continent, and I knew I had to do something about it.

What began as a small reselling venture during my NYSC year has grown into a full-fledged business, thanks to the unwavering support of Nigerians and a pivotal $5,000 grant from the Tony Elumelu Foundation in 2015. Today, African Things showcases the best of African craftsmanship, creating culturally inspired gift items that resonate with people worldwide. From handmade jewelry to corporate gifts, every piece tells a story of African pride, resilience, and innovation.

We’ve come a long way—from being featured in over 35 stores across Nigeria to now having our own flagship store in Banex Mall, Oniru Lekki, Lagos. And this is just the beginning. Our dream is to expand globally, establishing more branches internationally and bringing African heritage to homes and hearts around the world.
