Over 1000 women and youths of Amudo community in Ezza South local government Area of Ebonyi state on Saturday protested around the community over the arrest of their sons by self acclaimed billionaire Chief Chibuike Orugwu popularly know as Baby Oku. The women alleged incessant arrest in the village by Baby Oku and further alleged that three of their sons where arrested during the festive period and taken to unknown place. According to them those arrested were the Youth President Mr. Chinedu Uguta, the his Deputy Mr. Paul Chukwu and his Personal Assistant Mr. Amechi Nweke. The women, youths including their family members have gathered in Amudo Community to say NO and place a condemnation to the high handedness of BABY OKU and the atrocities he is causing in Amudo Community. The protester were carrying placards with the following inscriptions, Baby Oku release our Children, Son, Husband and Brothers from unknown place. Baby Oku has destroyed Amudo. Enough of Baby Oku's rascality. Baby Oku allow Amudo to breathe. Say no to Baby Oku' suppression. Stop infringing on Amudo people's fundamental human rights. Our Correspondent gathered that the Chief Orugwu want to single handly install their new traditional ruler and even dissolved the town Union executive which the community rejected. A source said that Baby Oku started arresting and harassing anyone that goes contrary to his wish thinking that he will use his money to achieve it. "We have told him that he cannot impose any candidate on the community even with his money, let him release those he arrested" the Source said. Speaking on behalf of the protester, Mrs. Veronica Nwite said the protest was to demand urgent release our children he took to unknown destination. She also said their children are running out of the community because of fear of being arrested by so call Baby Oku. We are also calling all relevant authorities to call Baby Oku to order because he is not bigger than the community. "We no longer sleep in our homes and we want government to intervene by immediate release of our children who had been in detention" She said. Our Correspondent when contacted Mr Chibuike Orogwu on phone, the number was not reachable at the time of filing this report.
