The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has experienced another setback, now ranking 13th among Africa’s football leagues, having fallen out of the top 10, according to the latest rankings.

This decline has great implications for Nigerian football. Clubs in the country have lost their slot to present four teams in CAF competitions.

Previously, the NPFL was allocated two teams in the CAF Champions League and two in the CAF Confederation Cup. With the new rankings, only two teams will now represent Nigeria, the league champions and the winners of the President Federation Cup.
