One of the most significant changes for the 2025 UTME is the requirement for all prospective candidates to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) during the registration process. This update affects all applicants, whether they are applying for full-time programs or non-regular courses, such as part-time, distance learning, and sandwich programs. Candidates are now required to generate their profile codes. This step is mandatory for all applicants. To facilitate this, candidates can easily create their JAMB profile by sending their NIN to the shortcode 55019 via SMS. This initiative is part of JAMB’s broader effort to align with national identification policies and improve data management for university admissions in Nigeria. By linking NIN to registration, the board aims to enhance the accuracy of candidate records and ensure that only verified candidates are allowed to participate in the UTME.

Over the years, JAMB has consistently incorporated more technology into the UTME registration and examination processes.
