Job Title: Shipping & Customs Relations Manager
Location: Operates from Port-Harcourt and manages activities in Warri and Lagos
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced professional with expertise in Shipping, Cust oms Compliance, and Supply Chain Management to lead and optimize our shipping and customs operations. The ideal candidate will bring strategic insights, excellent relationship-building skills, and a proven ability to navigate international trade regulations. This role will require collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders to drive efficiency and compliance in our shipping processes.

Key Responsibilities
Customs Compliance & Documentation
● Lead and ensure full compliance with customs regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
● Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and certificates of origin.
● Stay updated on international trade laws, tariffs, and trade agreements, implementing changes as required.

Logistics & Shipping Management
● Plan and manage end-to-end shipping operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
● Engage with freight forwarders, carriers, and shipping lines to optimize routes and negotiate favorable agreements.
● Supervise import and export logistics teams to maintain operational excellence.

Stakeholder Management & Relationship Building
● Act as the main liaison with customs authorities, regulatory agencies, and logistics partners.
● Build and sustain strong client and vendor relationships, resolving shipping-related issues promptly.
● Provide detailed and timely updates to management and clients on shipment progress.

Performance Analysis & Process Improvement
● Monitor key shipping metrics such as lead times, delivery accuracy, and freight costs.
● Implement strategies for continuous improvement, reducing costs while improving service levels.
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance shipping operations and visibility.

Team Leadership
● Train and guide logistics and customs teams to ensure adherence to regulations and company goals.
● Manage operational staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Qualifications
Education & Professional Experience
● Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Maritime Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
● 10+ years of experience in international shipping, customs compliance, and supply chain logistics.
● Proven leadership experience managing import/export operations, customs compliance, and logistics coordination.

Technical & Professional Skills
● In-depth knowledge of INCOTERMS, global trade laws, and international shipping operations.
● Proficiency with logistics management software, ERP systems, and analytical tools.
● Strong negotiation skills for vendor management and contract discussions.
● Expertise in problem-solving and process optimization under time-sensitive conditions.

Soft Skills
● Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
● Ability to manage multicultural teams and navigate cross-border trade environments.
● Conflict resolution and crisis management skills, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
