Let's assume a hypothetical scenario where Egypt and Nigeria engage in a war. Considering their military strengths, economies, and geographical advantages, who do you think would emerge victorious?

In a hypothetical war between Egypt and Nigeria, I'd argue that Egypt would likely emerge victorious. And by "likely", I mean it's a done deal. A no-brainer. A walk in the park.

Egypt has a more experienced and better-equipped military, with a larger army, navy, and air force. Nigeria's military, on the other hand, is still trying to figure out how to use their new toys.

Egypt's economy is also more diversified and stable, with a stronger industrial base and a larger GDP. Nigeria's economy, meanwhile, is still heavily dependent on oil exports. Because, you know, that's worked out so well for them in the past.
And let's not forget about Egypt's geographical advantage. They control the Suez Canal, which is kind of a big deal. Nigeria, on the other hand, has... well, they have a lot of sand.

But what really seals the deal for Egypt is their impressive list of allies. They've got the backing of the Arab League, as well as strong ties with the United States, Russia, and China. Nigeria, on the other hand, has... well, they've got ECOWAS grin. Good luck with that.

Egypt would likely send Nigeria packing in a hypothetical war. Let's be real, Nigeria's military might is no match for Egypt's seasoned forces. It's like sending a danfo bus to compete in a Formula 1 race. Not. Gonna. Happen. But hey, let's keep dreaming, and more importantly, let's keep the peace!

It would not happen because both countries have no military capabilities to invade each other as we share no boarders

Egypt vs Nigeria without igbos will take Egypt 1 year 6 months

Egypt vs Nigeria with igbos will lead to an infinite war

Self explanatory, Nigeria as a stand alone country without igbos is no different from Chad or Niger Republic. It is the Biafra component that makes it a giant and elicits world interests and attention. Take this to the bank or go to court.

Lol, Nigeria has never been in the same league with Egypt. You can't have a very strong enemy like Israel without you atleast making some efforts to catch up.

Even when Nigeria fought Biafra as far back as 1967 to 1970, it was Egyptian pilots that Nigeria hired as mercenaries.

Nigeria vs Biafra war is the only real war Nigeria has fought. Biafrans even gave Nigeria a bloody nose until Nigeria called upon Britain, Egypt, Russia, Cameroon, Syria, Chad, and Niger for help. Nigeria had to deploy all these armada of foreign countries to fight against Biafra that was blockaded and had no arms!!!

Since 1970, Nigerian troops has only participated in peace keeping missions in Liberia and Seara Leone as well as small border skirmishes with Cameroon over Bakassi peninsula. Can you contrast that with Egypt that has continued to play catch up with Israel, a very strong country?

Egypt will route Nigeria within 24 hours. They will first jam your airspace, and destroy your bases before you will even know what is going on. You can't even defeat ragtag terrorists but it's Egypt you think you can fight with 🤣🤣

But on the other side, Nigeria has Guerrilla Warfare Expertise and Asymmetric Advantage. Nigeria's extensive experience fighting insurgent groups has honed its skills in guerrilla warfare. This expertise will prove devastating for Egypt's conventional forces, who will struggle to adapt to Nigeria's unconventional tactics.

Also As a key player in ECOWAS and the African Union, Nigeria wields significant diplomatic clout. Its regional support network will provide a steady stream of logistical, intelligence, and military aid, ensuring Nigeria stays one step ahead of Egypt.

that depends on where the war is being fought. On Egyptian soil or Nigerian soil?

Yes. Egyptian military is more or less US owned and exceptionally well equipt. There are also a lot of northerner would be feel more validated siding w/ Egypt (arabs) so they can feel like real muslims so Egypt can easily splinter the military itself

Egypt's only set back is arab soliders are famously incompetent

It depends who pays defense. Nigeria can't project force outside of its territory. We saw this during Niger Republic's coup.

you people like speaking grammar without thinking far. First of all, why would Egypt want to go to war with Nigeria ? There's no hypothetical situation except Nigerian security agents föolishly murder the Egyptian president. Why would the Egyptians then decide to engage in guerrilla warfare and other funny things you spoke about in this day of ballistic missiles and drones launched at precise targets across the country ? What are your air defense capabilities (I asked against Niger but idíots were more interested in abuse than using their brains) What if Egypt decides to send a couple of squadrons of fighter jets to mop up shortly after the missile strikes ? You talked about ECOWAS, that poor organization that can't even bark properly nowadays talk less of bite but you conveniently forgot about the Sahelean AES States (Russian backed) who are closer to Egypt and consider your country a big nuisance so ask yourself, who has your back in a squabble ? You've been bombed to smithereens all the way from Cairo, your overstretched army is in utter dissaray, you suddenly try to get badly needed military hardware but couldn't resist the urge to create Senate committees and sub committees for the weapons purchase and defense systems thereby losing more valuable time and lives (both civilian and military) then we finally address the very real issue of allegiances of the northern populace who immediately sided with Niger when we were hell bent on invading them a few years ago. I'm not saying this out of malice but there's simply no reason you'll give a northerner about why you have to invade/fight their Arab brethren when there's diplomacy and or YOU definitely fûcked up. The northerners will immediately side against Nigeria, they've said it before and I'm sure they'll do so in your little fantasy so, add the mayhem they can unleash on a stunned populace at a moment's notice across 36 states and Abuja

Security reports and sources are easily available online for verification, just do your research. You guys love war so much for a people who have never fought a proper Christmas street fight with fireworks, it's a shame. We should rather think and work towards peace at all times cool

Egypt has around 12 AH-64 "apache" helicopters. Those helicopters can engage targets from 3 miles away. How do you fight something like that?

Nigeria can't even smell Egypts ass in any way militarily. That country's military has got its shit together. Unlike the boy scout civilian beating thugs we have in uniform here in Nigeria.

Nigeria is in no shape to fight any war, least of all, with a country with more sophisticated military like Egypt. The Nigerian Army is in almost all geopolitical zones fighting one insurgency or the other, how can such Army fight another country?

Where would it get another Army from?

If Nigeria and Egypt were to fight, the Egyptian Airforce, and it's fighter jets, would level Nigeria in a matter of weeks, it would even be Nigeria that would offer surrender even before any Egyptian Soldier arrives in Nigeria

It seems you don't understand the word unity? This Nigerias sponsored division among them selves will teach them right anytime they had external war.
If a brother sell a brother, it will be very easy transaction.nigeria should do a thorough reconciliation and rebound again.

With our current military inventory....Egypt will be on the offence and nigeria Defence...On record we have no cruise missile, air defence system or 4Th generation jets. Egypt is superior on air. Is an added advantage for them.

You may be right sha but don't discount Nigeria's ability to adapt and innovate in the face of adversity. Throughout its history, Nigeria has demonstrated remarkable resilience and resourcefulness, often finding creative solutions to seemingly insurmountable challenges.

While Egypt is undoubtedly a formidable opponent, Nigeria is not a helpless underdog. With its modernizing military, strong regional support network, and resilient citizenry, Nigeria has the potential to hold its own against Egypt in a hypothetical conflict. Also Nigeria's youthful population is a ticking time bomb waiting to unleash its full potential. With over 60% of its population under 25, Nigeria has an unparalleled advantage in terms of manpower, mobilization, and sheer energy.

by now
i expect Nigeria to be practicing modern warfare.
but guess what?
we are still using ww2 ships , jets and guns.....
we dont even have eyes in the skies
we dont have defensive systems
any rocket or missile sent to Nigeria all would hit effectively...
there was a time a submarine was in Nigerias water for days undetected grin
we dont have a sub
we dont have jet carriers
and our ships na trash from ww2 British give us
our soldiers na shout dem de should no communication gadgets or radia..
i can bet my balls that our soldiers havnt used night vision , smoke grenade , flash bang etc grin
Re: HYPOTHETICAL WAR: Can Egypt Defeat Nigeria In A Battle? by SpyMaster1: 12:45pm On Jan 22
One of Egypt's most significant strategic advantages in a hypothetical conflict against Nigeria is its control of the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal is a critical waterway that connects the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea, allowing ships to travel between Europe and Asia without having to circumnavigate Africa.
In the event of a conflict, Egypt's control of the Suez Canal would give it a significant advantage in several ways;

Check Point: The Suez Canal is a bottleneck for global trade, with over 10% of global trade passing through it. Egypt could use its control of the canal to restrict or even block Nigerian shipping, crippling its economy and limiting its ability to import goods and equipment.

International Pressure: Also Egypt's control of the Suez Canal would also give it significant leverage over the international community. If Egypt were to threaten to close the canal or restrict shipping, it could put significant pressure on other countries to intervene on its behalf or avoid taking sides with Nigeria cheesy wink
