The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has approved the immediate deployment of new passport printers to the Nigerian Consulates in Atlanta and New York. This decision follows a petition regarding the need for updated equipment to address passport processing delays, ensuring that the Consulates can better serve Nigerians in the United States. Hon. Tunji-Ojo posted this on his personal X-handle on Thursday He said that a long-term plan is already underway, designed to streamline the passport issuance process, as printers are set to be installed promptly, offering a quick resolution to the current challenges. He noted, “The new initiative will make passport applications much easier for Nigerians, enhancing overall efficiency. ”As part of this plan, a new Passport Personalization Centre will be activated in Abuja within the coming weeks. Additionally, more countries will soon be included in the rollout of the contactless passport solution that was initially launched in Canada.” The Minister of Interior, Hon.
