The debate on the appropriateness or otherwise of retaining the subsidy on fuel has continued to rage. Despite the opposition from a cross section of the society, the Federal Government has declared that it would remove the subsidy. Although, the 2012 Appropriation Bill that President Goodluck Jonathan presented to the joint session of the National Assembly last week did not make provision for subsidy, no date has been fixed for the removal.
