You can never find a Libyan slaving in any country in the world when Gadafii was alive. Libyans live like Kings any where you meet them.

You are on point.

They blockaded Cuba for more than 60 years but the island nation is fine.

Every country, directly or indirectly depends on America.
Their economy is enough to cause global depression, they can mount sanction on any country whether china, Germany or any other country.

The are world power for a reason

That's the clear truth.

However, with the manner President Trump is going about it, it can only backfire.

The narrative of Trump and the American press that China is dubious by its govt subsidizing products is an american sentiment. US is complaining only becoz China is not practicing capitalism. Which is a choice and a taylored strategy for their economic growth.

If China had not emerged, most citizens in countries like Nigeria and many other 3rd world countries wld not have access to many tech and needed infrastructure. That's the framework of World Bank, IMF etc.

Another concern of trump is that many of these nations that are ripping off America, made their wealth tru the liberty and access granted to them by the US,
Particularly China. Yes, true in a way.

He needs to calm down and review these things with his team.

When you choke all your major trading partners excessive tariffs, they'll form an alternative to survive.

You can't fight the whole world. I am so surprised with the way he has treated Canada. Such a shame.

Actually Trump made sure Ngozi Iweala did not become the World Bank DG during his term time. Then, he lost, and the Democrats asked her to become a full citizen of the US which she did and she was made the World Trade DG. She should be angry with Trump but with what I am seeing, she isn't.

I just love her charisma and her approach. Even Fared respected her. Tit for tat will not pay anyone. Despite knowing Trump is trying to make the US great again, I think he needs to be careful. Like Ngozi said, no matter how Trump injures you, try to not react immediately so the damages can be minimised.

Though I support some of Trump's policies but hmmmm....

It is well.

World Bank DG or WTO DG?

It was Obama that blocked Ngozi and not Trump.

Madam WTO is simply telling the world to take a chill pill until the Trump's onslaught begins to boomerang.

He who must drown a person, he too would get drenched.

America without its traditional allies is an ill wind that is sure to blow no good in the long run.

Like Okonjo Iweala said "let's wait and see" because when it becomes counterproductive, Trump may be forced to eat the humble pie.

Jokes. And China will definitely increase their donations. You think U.S is competing with Africa? They are at loggerheads with China and Russia, and India is rising. The strength of the U.S lies in her equally strong allies, beyond military might. Trump is only attempting to destroy several decades of strong relationships forged by decent presidents. And Trump is not going to make any America great. If America wasn't great for centuries now, Trump Grandpa will not migrate there from Germany.

Y'all want puppets to fix a continent that was partitioned along greedy interest, the partitioned as history states, scrambled for it. They care not whose ancestral land their artificial lines splits arbitrarily over others. Went further to label them with pseduo identities that identifies no ethnic nations, like they have in Europe.

Make una dey try dey think for once na.
No be to dey follow follow same old brainless lazy yarns.

Oga, you people need to grow up and start taking responsibility. Almost all the countries in the world were colonised, including the United States. While all these countries have grown some balls to grow beyond neocolonialism, Africans are still wailing.

I remember an African saying that the British should pay Africa billions of dollars for stealing her resources and a wise African replied, "Even if you pay Africans that money, they'll squander it in a couple of months." It's actually hypocritical to amplify neocolonialism and downplay the self-inflicted evils that live among us.

Unfriendly tariff regime implemented by Trump will surely have a negative consequence on America too.

You are so right except that the leaders are a reflection of the people who allow them to emerge from among their midst.
So if we want to have different and better leaders than we currently have on the continent, what do WE have to do

Neo-black Problem: Must Blacks Be Ruled by Whites in Order to Prosper?

In short, the neo-black dilemma may be framed as follows: is it better to live under white rule without political dignity but with basic life-sustaining standards for many;

or to live under black rule with illusory political dignity and without basic life- sustaining standards for the majority?

The path forward for Africa lies in cultivating higher and adequate levels of personal and communal agential integrity as well as full personal responsibility and productivity. Not to mention creativity (including epistemic creativity), productive justice (such as merit and freedom), harmony and reconciliation at local and international levels, and a proper domestication of capitalism and other related values and institutions.

Africa must stop wasting her time on dreams of socialism because it is a system of wealth distribution primarily. Whereas, capitalism is a system of wealth creation primarily, and wealth has to be produced before it can be distributed.

The thing is this.
Most countries will rather turn a blind eye and allow USA to bully other countries, because to take world power from a country, u will have to go through a very painful readjustment that could bankrupt a country.
Only war that threatens our existence can do that, it was war that removed world power from USSR and not just some countries coming together on a round table
