Definitely a poisonous one. Most snakes that have ominous colour are poisonous. It's nature's way of alerting all to danger. 8 Likes |

Twob: Pigs also kill snakes. In fact, they eat snakes alive. The thick fatty layer underneath their skin prevents the venom from the snake bites from reaching their bloodstream. That's a spitting cobra, by the way. Mambas are native to southern Africa. Those saying it's a mamba should kneel down and thank the Lord that there are no mambas in Nigeria and even West Africa. 17 Likes 3 Shares |

mrbonesy2k: That's a very poisonous Cobra your dog killed. The venom is very lethal and I'm surprised your dog is still alive. The venom paralyzes and attacks the central nervous system; causing perspiration, blood clot, and accelerated death. Stay close to the vet and ensure that he's doing the right thing, or change him fast. Your dog is still alive perhaps, little venom got into the blood stream from the snake. 2 Likes |

That's a cobra brother. That dog saved your life. If this snake had made its way to your room and gave you just a bite, nairaland would have lost another illustrious son. Thank God it didn’t happen. Otito diri Jesu. 19 Likes 1 Share

Unfortunately, the dog won't survive it. Nigerian hospitals don't even have enough anti venom talk more of a vet. Only some federal government hospitals have anti venom in Nigeria, sadly. I hate snakes. I don't like dogs. I hate cats. I just wish your dog the best of luck cos it won't survive the bite, sadly. Like some people said, you need to do something about your environment asap to avoid human bite next time, hope you don't have kids, please do something about your environment asap 1 Like |

![]() ![]() Cobras are extremely venomous with one of the most potent venoms among venomous animals in general. Cobra venom is extremely dangerous being composed of mainly neurotoxins but also cardiotoxins. Their venom attacks the nervous and muscular systems, paralysing the parts controlling breathing and muscle activity, bringing death within minutes. Cobras are among the world's deadliest snakes, courtesy of their neurotoxic venom. Other snakes in this league include tiger snakes, brown snakes,Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake, Black Mamba,Death adders, Bushmaster vipers, Green mambas, and most other Elapids. Cobras are very aggressive and can strike repeatedly especially the King cobra. They are often remarkable for the hood they form by spreading the skin of their body near the head to intimidate enemies. The hood spreading Mechanism is powered by muscles attached to the ribs. The snake draws out the muscles, pulling the ribs and tissues to form the Trademark Hood of all Cobra species. Some species of cobras possess the unique ability to spit venom and are collectively known as "SPITTING COBRAS". Among the 30 species of cobras native to Asia and Africa,14 species can spit venom at intruders. Spitting cobras intentionally spit venom at the eyes of an intruder to protect themselves and give them ample time to escape. Spitting cobras are found both in Africa and Asia. A spitting cobra spits by squeezing its venom glands and in applying pressure forces the venom out through the syringe like fangs in a jet like spray. They are spectacularly successful in blinding an enemy by their accurate venom spray. 2 Likes 1 Share |
