BREAKING: Two Police Officers Abducted In Ondo As NSCDC Operatives, Policemen Clash At Checkpoint

Aviolent clash between armed operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Mobile Police (MOPOL) officers at a mining site in Ondo State, has resulted in injuries and the abduction of two police personnel.

SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred around 4:15pm on Wednesday, at Ade-Olap Global Resources Ltd along the Ore-Sagamu Expressway in Ondo State.

According to a police signal, Inspector Egbekele Alaba was the leader of the MOPOL 17 Akure unit on guard duty at the site, and the armed NSCDC operatives arrived in a convoy consisting of a gun truck and three Hilux vehicles.

In the wireless signal obtained by SaharaReporters, the NSCDC personnel were identified as being on a national assignment with officials from the Ministry of Mines, allegedly attempted to disarm the MOPOL officers without prior notification.

A scuffle ensued, during which one NSCDC officer sustaining a bullet wound to the leg.

However, two MOPOL officers were reportedly abducted by the NSCDC team.

According to the signal, security agencies are currently engaging in consultations to de-escalate the situation and facilitate the release of the abducted officers.

Meanwhile, the wounded NSCDC officer is said to be receiving medical treatment and is in stable condition.

The wireless message read, "GOOD MORNING SIR. SITREP SHOOTING INCIDENT GRATEFUL BE INFORMED ON 12/02/2025 AT ABOUT 1615HRS ARMED NSCDC OPERATIVES LATER DISCOVERED TO BE ON NATIONAL ASSIGNMENT WITH OFFICIALS OF MINISTRY OF MINES ON ILLEGAL MINING ACTIVITIES HAD AN ENCOUNTER WITH 4 MOPOL 17 AKURE PERSONNEL ON GUARD DUTY AT ADE-OLAP GLOBAL RESOURCES LTD ALONG ORE/SAGAMU EXPRESSWAY ONDO STATE.
