Are you earning a good income in the gigolo?
jetson06:
I am also in the same boat as well. I started my tech journey as an IT Support Engineer and later Systems Admin about 7 years ago. I relocated to the UK under a COS but the job I got through this COS is a finance role. I have done numerous certifications in a bid to land a remote tech job and its been nothing rejection for the past 3 years in UK. I suddenly gave up and decided to be A gigolo.

Can you suggest some good surveys for earning pls?
dauntless15:
Truth is they're few tech jobs out there, but the hype was much and alot of people like you blindly learnt tech skills, now applicants are more than the actual available tech jobs, goto remote work websites and see the thousands of people applying to one tech job, all over the world, it's crazy, now most tech jobs also exclude Africa, they reserve it for Europe and north America, the few available worldwide are crowded by hungry people especially Indians, they're practically everywhere like a pandemic, forget the dreams abeg, na only crypto and surveys be the sure thing now, atleast nobody go control wether I earn or not, it's all up to me, and before you rant, I was like you, I learnt UI and UX design, web design, and graphics design yet here I am, if no be survey and crypto my own for don finish.

But AI will give you some clue about the sophisticated apps!

Oya if that is how it is, then everyone can use the AI to build sophiscated app. Make AI come build Aviation app, or come build core banking apps used in ur banks, not ur regular bank app. AI would need the experience of highly technical and experienced coder to even try to work at such level.
And each day, there is countless openings for Software developers, trainings, world wide. Like I told someone, AI will take jobs from wacks who dont know wwhat they are doing. Na coders built AI, dont forget.

A data analyst is in "tech" the same say I'm a mechanic for pulling fault codes from a car via OBD.

There's a whole lot more to it. I put down some core I.T. areas in the initial post, i'm sure there are a whole lot more that can be explored.

Coding/Development/Programming is just the popular kid on the block, fields still dey wey dey print money steady.

octavian:

This is interesting to hear, so what's IT proper? A lot of people keep getting things mixed or upside down, information technology is as wide as Engineering but there are numerous fields within IT, all the subset listed up there are proper IT, you decide your path into the area then run with it, what Nigerians consider tech this day is programming abi na coding grin grin , and unfortunately everyone believes that is the only field that is lucrative .

Now, Data Analytics is proper IT because it involves scripting and writing queries in SQL, etc... PBI has its own language to write measures, see there's no one area of IT that doesn't have a technical bit, stop looking at it from the lens of MS Excel only
