In Nigeria, everything is tainted by ethnic bias. The #EndSARS protests, initiated, championed, and executed by Lagosians across Lagos and the southern regions, were no exception. What began as a movement led by Yoruba celebrities was later twisted into a supposed Igbo conspiracy to destroy Lagos. There is nothing like yoruba church. It was Captain Ude who went to Calabar prison to free Awo, the Capitan was arrested.

I agree the coup was not Igbo , it was nationalistic. But Nzeogwu was the leader, that has never been disputed. Ademoyega was 3rd in command after Ifeajuna.

Nobody drafted the great Nzeogwu, he drafted everyone else. He in fact addressed the nation that morning.

Also most of the foot soldiers in the North for the coup were Northerners, which actually makes sense.

But unfortunately there were some unnecessary killings that day especially how Tafawa Balewa and the 3 others were killed around Ijebu Ode. That was pure murder. They were driving them around for hours in the truck and by evening, when they saw the coup had failed in Lagos because Ifejuna failed to arrest Ironsin, the Prime Minister and others were taken to the Bush and shot. That's cold blooded murder.

I just finished reading the part of the book where IBB talks about the 1966 coup and the counter-coup that followed. That is from page 36 of the book.

From what I have read there, iBB didn't write anything different from what we have read in history books and have already known. There is nowhere in the book he categorically mentioned that the coup was not an 'igbo coup' neither did he blame Igbos as a tribe for the coup. I noticed he was trying to be as objective and unbiased as possible while narrating the story.

The people asking Nigerian government to apologise to ndigbos and compensate Igbos with Trillions of Naira are mad.

These were a group of disgruntled miltary officers who were very unhappy with the unbridled corruption in the polity. Massive corruption perpuated by POLITICAL UNREST THAT BEGAN IN THE SOUTH WEST! Military officers who were highly educated with very rigid social/political values and ideologies. Unlike officers of today.
Some even believed them to be devout, practicing socialists which would explain why Awolowo was their choice of a leader.

Akintola was a very corrupt,cantankerous and recalcitrant premier who turned the south west upside down, went head to head with Awolowo and culminating in the famous cross carpeting and upsetting of the polity.

The Yoruba can attest to the character of Akintola if they are being truthful with themselves but I won't hold my breath. See how they foisted an incompetent Tinubu on the rest of the country and are proudly defending that idiotic move knowing fully well the fellow is not the best they could have presented.

Today, the same yorubas who started this madness have carefully rewritten history and painted themselves saints.

Just wonder why we keep dragging this matter, not the fault of any ethnic group that the coup plotters staged the coup. However, almost all the coup plotters were Igbos and almost none of the victims were Igbos

From that moment the putsch was infiltrated by "outsiders" to its supposed original intention and it took on an unmistakable ethnic coloration compounded by the fact that there were no related coup activities in the Eastern Region

If you know how to read and comprehend, it is right there in black and white, IBB did not mince words, it was a 100% Igbo coup.

I am still looking for the soft copy of Adewale Ademoyega's "why we struck" so i can post it here for these clueless bigots to read and instantly go mute.

In actual fact, Ademoyega was the mastermind of that coup. NZEOGWU was the face!

Ademoyega did the recruiting of officers into the plan. In addition to the fact he was the most senior in age, he appeared to be the most educated and strategic.

He it was that drafted Major Theophilus Nzegwu, the first igbo air force officer to organise the aircraft that would bring Awo from Calabar prison after the success of the coup.

I will find the soft copy of "why we struck".. I lost my physical copy unfortunately but I'll definitely find it and have it posted here.

PS: Nzeogwu is an igbo man in one breath and his people in delta state are not igbos in another according to these cursed ronu twats 😂... keep spinning your double mouthed selves into a corner.

PSS: Maybe we should also term the obasanjo coup as a yoruba coup and the Buhari/Abacha coups as fulani coups 🤦🏾‍♂️
