Why must Madrid use ojoro to win. They won't escape quarter final. Stupid team. I don vex. Why did they cancel that penalty. Must they VAR check. Rubbish system. Madrid will still quench on the way to final. Idiots

Should VAR exclude Penalty shootout ?

I think yes, otherwise those goals scored when goalkeepers jump out of line before the penalty is taken should be checked on VAR and either cancelled or retaken

This corruption by uefa has made me lose interest on UCL matches.

Today will mark the last day of me watching UCL matches.

Even if my club play finals
I will never watch any UCL match

They have used useless rules upon rules to spoil to twist and corrupt this once loved sport called football.
Now na highest bidder dey win UCL

Today 12th march 2025 will be the Last day i'll ever watch a champions league match in my life.

So far, so good for the UCL Landlords. cool

Marcos Llorente must be high... Lol. What a miss!

Congrats to Real Madrid!

If another team can help them eliminate Barcelona, they just might be retaining that UCL for another ridiculous time.

UCL constantly favoring these guys in white! grin

U sabi.

Madrid has high possibility rate to reach final, the only tumbling block is Barca another interesting match would be PSG

Day dreamer
Football is not like that
The better team always win
Look at PSG Liverpool
PSG was better home and away

Well, not always.

Roma wasn't better than Barcelona home and away yet removed them years ago

PSG has been dumped out of the competition twice by an average Man United

Man United eliminated a far superior Barcelona the season they won the title for the 3rd time

Penalties go either way... PSG could have been eliminated yesterday.

Luck plays into UCL sometimes... Ask Chelsea and Tuchel!

That would be a great day in the world of Football!

If Arsenal pulls that off, then Arteta should be Immortalised.

I'm just hoping the officiating will be without any form of prejudice or bias.
Impossible without a striker. Saka also missing

Says who?!! Slipping while taking the kick is one thing, but any issues with the kick in itself should be ruled out and retaken.

Seems they rewrite football rules whenever they feel like or when certain teams are involved.
Mahrez Vs Manchester City. When Mahrez was in Leicester, he had a double kick in a penalty and it was cancelled.

The rule is "one leg of the goalkeeper must be on the line". If both legs were off the line before the player takes the penalty, the outcome is taken in favour of the player....i.e, should he scores, the goal stands, and should he loses, he will retake.

Just to remind you ...John Terry slipped terribly in 2008 finals ( not even rounds of 16) in Moscow against Man U and they didn't let him retake. In games like this,it's the tram with the cutting edge and right mentality that goes through...its those fine details and games management...and Madrid did just that tonight

Madrid did nothing... The referees helped them as always

Did you see it?

Simple....Yes or No.

No, I didn’t see it. I’m watching from a tv not standing 10 yards away from the ball like the referee.

There are 26 cameras and technology tracking every movement of the ball. I think that’s enough to notify the referee.

Most of una think say na sentiment them dey use over there.

Rules are Rules. For ATM players and coach not to argue the decision should tell you a thing or two.

Only any issue with the kick that's not kicker's fault would be retaken

Same way a foul throwing isn't retaken...it's thrower's fault

Stoichkov free kick goal was ruled out against Nigeria in 94 cos he kicked the ball against the rule. No option to retake it, it was the kicker's fault

it is not to favour Madrid, it’s the rule! Didn’t you see that they had to var-check it to confirm? It’s so unfortunate that it happened, it is what it is. You can read up football rules on FIFA.com. We learn everyday.

You have a valid point.
Since VAR is not used to check if a keeper left his line prior to PK, VAR should also not be used for case of Double Kick. Both happen in split seconds not usually visible to ordinary eyes.

Infact if VAR was used to check if keepers left their lines, most PKs would be cancelled. Reason they just allow Ref to make the judgement without VAR.
