The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, around 1am in the Shuwari Baban Layi area of the town. Residents of Buni Yadi, the hometown of Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, have expressed fear over the worsening security situation, with the rampaging Boko Haram terrorists. The Boko Haram terrorists attacked the home of a police inspector, Malam Jibrin, in Buni Yadi town, Gujba Local Government Area, killing his two sons and setting their corpses and the house on fire, it was learnt. The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, around 1am in the Shuwari Baban Layi area of the town. Jibrin, who serves as the crime officer at the Buni Yadi police station, managed to escape by scaling the fence of his house, according to Daily Trust. Enraged by his escape, the insurgents turned on his two sons, aged 25 and 27, slaughtered them, and then set their bodies and the house ablaze. “They arrived around 1am and operated uninterrupted until 1:54am. The situation has caused a lot of panic among residents,” the source said. A local vigilante revealed that the attackers are believed to be operating from the Buk and Talala areas, about 30 kilometers east of Buni Yadi. “As it is now, nobody dares go up to the Damboa axis. Everybody, including the military, is aware of their presence,” he said. “It was the same area where they ambushed the military last month and killed an army commandant, along with several soldiers and vigilantes.” Residents of Buni Yadi, the hometown of Governor Mai Mala Buni, expressed fear over the worsening security situation. “People can no longer sleep with their eyes closed,” said Muhammad Garba, a resident. “With what is happening on the roads and within the town, nowhere is safe.” https://saharareporters.com/2025/03/05/boko-haram-attacks-yobe-governors-hometown-kills-police-officers-two-sons-sets-house |

Initially, it was ideologies against western education that sustained Boko haram. Then it was hatred against Christianity and subsequently; political agenda against a southern presidency. In all of these, the locals were supportive, financers, beneficiaries and sympathizers. Similarly with Unknown gunmen in the South-East. The locals lived (and still living) in an illusive struggle to a sovereign state. Hate for a Northern presidency that later initiated the killings of federal security operatives. The locals were the incubators of these terrorists groups before the " international financers" came in. The locals only showed concern when their overfed cats started feeding on them. I consider it hypocritical to point fingers at other nations for sponsoring insecurities in Nigeria (and Africa at large) without mentioning the roles the local enablers played. What a pity. |

Omooba77:Bro sometimes i keep asking myself, how did we get here in the first place? Back in the 2000s, there were days i had to follow my dad down south south to the upper northeast to purchase some agricultural products via night journey's. It was exciting, very cool and enjoyable. I weep for Nigeria. |
