AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU.

( The Menace of insecurity in Nigeria)

With concise and proliferous respect to Your Excellency. All Glory belongs to the Lord of all creations, one whose His source has never been determined by any soul. He’s the Lord of the universe and one who has elevated you to the highest political office of the present day Nigeria. He deserves all praise and adoration.

First and Foremost, It is pertinent to Congratulate you on your well deserved victory your excellency, insurmountably the overall winner of the 2023 Presidential Election to be the President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria. On the 25th of February 2023, Nigerians trooped out in multitude across the 36 states of the federation to vote you into the highest public office of the Country regardless of our differences, on this day majority of citizens bestows their mandate upon you and believed not only in your promises, but as well on your overwhelming psyche of political, economic and social growth that made Lagos a centre of excellence while you were the Executive Governor of Lagos State.

Your Excellency, it is of no importance to explicate how blessed Nigeria is, a country located in the Western region of the coast of Africa with diversities in religion, customs and traditions of her people.
We have thrived successfully beyond measures to cohabit in peace and harmony over the years amidst our tribal differences, the people of Nigeria had learnt to live together in unity with a common goal to contribute collectively into the development of the Nation and stand firm in the face of adversities.

Mr President, as a concerned citizen of Nigeria, i believe it is high time we come out of our closet, the country is leaning towards destruction in its entirety your excellency, the level of insecurity in Nigeria is outwardly alarming, people get kidnapped on daily basis and no sort of redress measure is at sight.
Citizens of Nigeria now live in fear, people cannot travel by road any longer without panic of getting kidnapped on the way.
Only few could afford to travel by air, our major highways that connect different states are where kidnappers lay ambush to carry out heinous crimes on a daily basis. This affliction isn’t subject to a single household or class of persons in the society. Both the rich and poor, children and adult, men and women all have their portion in this monumental strike.

It is however pertinent to cast your mind back to your well organized manifestos during the 2023 Presidential Election, before assuming office your excellency, you spoke on insecurity which you decided to take upon yourself as a crime against humanity and you specifically assured Nigerians to entrust you with the hope to bring an end to insurgency and any other form of insecurities in Nigeria.

Mr President, have you heard of a new trend called “Japa syndrome”?
It is an informal denotation of citizens leaving the country without any plan of returning. They believe staying in Nigeria is like living in the wild, Life and Properties can be lost at any time because the country is an unsafe environment to live. Nigeria is our fatherland and home to all, we’re already underwhelmed by the standard of living which is below average due to inflation rising above 100 percent.

Mr President, remember these are the same people who have so much faith in your potentials and entrust their mandate upon you.
Before the citizen resort to take justice by themselves, it is pertinent you weigh in to end this nemesis before it gets more dangerous.

As an educated fellow and a Lawyer, i give a quintessential analysis towards how insecurities can be eradicated in Nigeria, below are my thoughts:

- Bringing into Law an institution or functional security agency specifically aimed towards insecurities. By empowering a special force which solely target insecurities either kidnapping or any form of insurgency can be a good lead into eradication of violence uprising in our society.
- Security awareness sensitizations in various rural communities. This sort of security awareness should be priorities and mandated for rural settlers to swiftly respond to any form of perilous danger taking place in their various communities.
- Compel state Governors to sign death warrant. The Last time a Nigerian Governor signed a Death warrant of a convict to be hung was June 2012 and that was the then Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomole. Apparently the Nigerian Prison Service inhabit 5,100 inmates on Death row awaiting the day they’ll be hung. Because any convicted person sentenced to Death by hanging or lethal injection, after the final judgement is delivered, the Governor of such state must sign the person’s Death warrant before he/she can be hung. By signing this, it’ll deter someone who may have thought of carrying out heinous crimes.

Your Excellency, i do not stand a chance to advise you on ways to get your country back in shape but as a concerned citizen and a fervent believer of your Governance seek your indulgence to thrive to make this country a better place again where citizens can return back home to develop the Nation.

As a patriot, i believe in Nigeria under your watch Your Excellency, let the citizens not only believe but see that we made the right choice. We are hopeful for a possible Renewed Hope sir.

Yours Faithfully,
S.A Gambari✍️
