As the world came together to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, Springfield Private School/Bosede Idehen International Academy took a distinctive approach to acknowledge the vital role of women in society. The institution, which integrates both American and Nigerian curricula, organized a special event to appreciate and empower women, particularly mothers and educators, who play a crucial role in shaping future generations.

This year’s event was themed “Empowered Mothers, Inspired Generations” and focused on celebrating women’s contributions while promoting their personal and professional growth. The school’s director, Mrs. Idehen Ovabor, highlighted the significance of recognizing women’s efforts, emphasizing that their contributions “cannot be overlooked, and there is a pressing need to support and uplift them for societal progress.”

Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Funmilayo Regina Adeegbe, CEO of TF Fashion Empire Limited, spoke on the critical role of women in society and the importance of self-empowerment. She underscored the impact of financial independence, education, and well-being on women’s overall success, while also addressing the challenges they face.

As part of the empowerment initiative, Mrs. Adeegbe led a hands-on training session on how to produce liquid soap and disinfectants. She explained that these skills could help women generate extra income, providing financial stability for their families.

The event saw an impressive turnout of parents and teachers, all eager to participate in the celebration. Dr. Akeju, the school’s principal, lauded the initiative, describing it as “a significant effort to acknowledge and celebrate the unique role of women in our society.”

A particularly heartfelt moment came when one of the parents publicly expressed gratitude to the school’s director, Mrs. Idehen Ovabor, for her commitment to recognizing and uplifting women.

The celebration at Springfield Private School/Bosede Idehen International Academy not only honored the resilience and strength of women but also equipped them with practical skills and valuable knowledge, reinforcing the school’s dedication to education and community development.
