1. Politicians since time immemorial have been receiving official cars since time immemorial. From the Legislative arm to the Executive arm. Even the Judicial arm who are not even politicians receive it when at certain level.
It didn’t start today, it is very usual!

2. No, civil service is not same as corporate world.

3. Many rules that apply in the corporate world don’t apply in the civil service but still, there are similarities is many of their rules. E.g Salaries, Allowance and benefits, security at certain levels, official cars and drivers at certain levels, etc.

4. I have never made a comment so far as to the rationality of that!

1. How have civil servants, judicial officers, politicians in the legislative and executive arms receive these official cars since time immemorial? do they budget for these cars for themselves and determine which cars they want?

b. what happens to the cars after service in office?

2. if civil service is not same corporate world, what is the wisdom in budgeting N7b for cars for members of the legislature alone?

3. since you are talking of similarities, what value does an individual need to add to get "certain levels" to be entitled to official car and driver?

is it the same or similar value that members of Lagos state HOA are adding to those they are supposed to serve?

whether in the civil service or corporate world, does a person need to get to a "certain level" before he or she is entitled to salaries, allowances and benefits?

4. I didnt say you mentioned anything about wives. if you read the article, you should have seen it mentioned.

how is it not unusual for a politician to include provision of cars for his wives in the budget of the state HOA?

1. The legislature makes these decisions. They can decide the exact car to buy for everyone.

b. The cars are not to be returned. They retain certain privileges after leaving office. This is why you see former governors, presidents, ministers, speakers still with security entourages alongside other retained privileges.

2. Difference and similarity has nothing to do with their budget.
A business can budget 7 billion naira for cars of their unit heads and top level executives.
The legislature can budget 7 billion naira for cars of law makers.

3. People in the corporate world and civil service don’t have to offer same value to get same benefits. Their functions differ.
Is law making in civil service not a different function from attracting and retaining customers in the corporate world?

Salaries, allowances and benefits are the most basic provisions whether in the civil service or corporate world.
The value of the salaries and all may differ, but you don’t need to climb up to a “certain level” before you’re entitled to receiving them.

4. I refuse to comment on that.

Why are you repeating your questions??

b. Answered!

2. And I’m telling you civil service doesn’t have to be corporate world before they can allocate such monies for cars.
You’re viewing 7B naira as an individual that’s why it’s looking like big money.
In 2024, Lagos’ IGR was almost 2T. Their budget was over 2T. The 7B is just 0.28% of the budget.
