50kg bag imported rice was around N120 under Buhari then N400 under Babangida.
Nigeria's population was 80 million in 1985 and 95 million in 1990. 180 million under Jonathan by 2015 and now estimated at 235 million under Tinubu.

Tinubu needs to see the receipt so as to know how much damage he has caused! If you can't help ordinary masses, why compounding their already bad situation nitori Olohun,Tinubu!

Take it or leave,PBAT, you're not getting the Yoruba votes in 2027 if this terrible situation continues. The truth is that - words on the streets are not favourable to you or your administration!

Go and ask people like nairalanda1, they will say the bag of rice that cost 16k then and 75k now means nothing: they will say the proper price of a bag of rice should be around N1million.

Nigeria was not great then.

It is just that when an economy becomes worse people always look back and call the old suffering days great days.

In some years to come people will look back and say "Haa! When a bag of rice was just #75,000. When Nigeria was great" forgetting that people were suffering and complaining then.

Thomthom:
Very correct. I served in Sokoto State that year, and my room mate and I will drop 4k each making it 8k. I will buy I bag of rice ₦7,600 the remaining 400 tfare. Nigeria was actually great then. But we no no

In 1999, a bag of rice in Nigeria typically cost between N2,000 and N2,500

kai kai kai

Between 1999 to 2003, minimum wage averaged N3,000. That would get you 1& half bags of rice or 1 & one quarter bags.

In 2014, minimum wage of N18,000 would get you 2+ bags of rice at N8,000 per bag.

Today, the minimum wage of N70,000 cannot buy a bag of rice...

The criminals will hoard their harvest, create artificial scarcity, sell to neighboring countries and still come back here to get free fertilizer from the FG.

A big shame to all you impoverished mo’fvckers who ignorantly got bribed to vote Buhari and Tinubu only to suffer under their selected government.
A bigger shame to all you educated fools who wickedly did same and are now shuffering and shmiling.
The biggest shame go to most Nigerians who easily forgive and forget the trespasses of these losers ruining Nigeria.
yea, OBIdients also promised immediate removal of fuel subsidy and devaluation of the Naira

And the life we lived then was fake - based on subsidy.

Yet how many people could afford bag of rice that time?

Not really. The hardship is everywhere and we are all angry. But that when "Nigeria was still great" is something I always find funny. We forget our suffering too fast in Nigeria.

Back in 1994, I was very young but could remember how we used to go pack sawdust at sawmills to make Abacha stoves because kerosene was unaffordable. I bet a bag of rice wouldn't be more than #1000 back then. But today someone will bring out a 1994 price list and say "Haaa! When Nigeria was still great."

Great is relative.
