The debate between him and Tofa had already won him the election and coupled with the mode of election, which was a head count grin

So even without coward Nwosu announcing him winner, everyone knew Abiola won the election in every region except the bitter region of back stabbers grin

Why was he not brave enough to announce the results. He chicken out and the useless abaribe who want to use nwosu immortalization to win election again is now clamouring for a man who didn't do the needful then. It is better to name the INEC office after Abiola.

Have you guys acknowledged the fact that he announced most of the results, when he was instructed not to by military leaders? The man risked his life to do what he did. Had Humphrey Nwosu not risked his life to announce results, there would be nothing called June 12th today

You want to kill him abi? It's good to always hear from the horse's mouth.

We act like the military were your friends. People that can take you out at anytime and hate insubordination. That's why IBB's excuse that Abacha annulled the election is laughable.
The events of 93 elections was also why NEC became INEC - the I was for Independence which Nwosu's NEC did not have to declare the result without authorisation only for IBB to declare it in his book 32 years later sad

Watch this interview Abiola's wife gave, it was what started the road to her assassination. She spoke out, she was taken out.

Why didn't he speak out? Hiss undecided

Unfortunately today the issues will not be discussed, tribes and kinsmen will be more important. What a sad state of affairs.

And the people you guys love to call cowards were the ones who spoke up. People like brave kudirat who saw the danger yet laid down her life for her husband's mandate given by the people. People like Abiola who had the option to renounce the mandate and go free yet preferred to die with the mandate. People like Fawehinmi and Falana who were detained several times yet stood up to the military and yes i remember others like Rewane and Musa Yaradua. Honoring Nwosu is like spitting on the graves of these brave people. The coward Nwosu deserves only one minute silence honor. No honor for the wicked. Not like his people voted for Abiola anyway. If care is not taken, these jokers might want Aso Rock to be named after Arthur Nzeribe who campaigned for the annulment of the election as confirmed in Babangida's memoir.

How do we expect people who rig their way into power to see the contribution of another person towards free and fair elections?

They probably paid billions to the commission and their people to get the Senate seat they have today.

They probably used all forms of undemocratic methods to get to the Senate today.

To them free and fair elections is an illusion. Their reality proves it doesn't exist.

And he did his job to the best of his abilities by sticking to announcing the results until Abacha and co started threatening him. Meanwhile none of them stayed to face the wrath of the military immediately the results were cancelled and Abacha went haywire. Why not come down to your Lagos and challenge Abacha yourself? Even the current president that parades around as a pro-democracy activist extraordinaire, was busy then at Chicago doing what him and Escobar know how to do best.

ALWAYS LEARN TO READ IN BETWEEN THE LINES... "HISTORY DON’T REWARD EFFORT, HISTORY ONLY REWARD RESULT". It would've been better for him to have declare the result and face the consequences like imprisonment as Abiola did.. Rather than acted coward. He could have acted brave, even without declaring the result, by making a positive statement, and resign his position instead of acted coward even to his death.

When all men of good conscience keep sentiments aside, they will agree that Humphrey Nwosu deserves to be immortalized.

He has the holy grail to say something before his death, Military rule ended in 1999, that's roughly 26 years ago, this man didn't say anything concerning why he didn't announce the results.
He should Rest in Peace and my sincere condolences to his family, but nothing should be name after him.
Let Eastern state governors especially the state he came from name state infrastructure after him, if they so much want him to be immortalized.
It's not about being Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa/Fulani or not, it's about integrity.

Airport was name after Nnamdi Azikiwe in Abuja, some other Igbos have been immortalized in this country.
Igbos have one problem, if anything doesn't go their way, they're willing to burn down the country, but if it goes their way and doesn't favor others, they keep mute as if nothing has happened
They're the ones dividing this country day by day, and yes they have the right to, they said they want to secede na Nigeria government and their selfish governors dey keep them here. Peter Obi that's aspiring for president of a country they don't fancy is one of their problems too.

Very soon, Igbos will say we should immortalize Obi Cubana, Simon Ekpa, Peter Obi and Nnamdi Kanu, and if we don't they'll burn down everywhere on social media

Give them what they want before they burn down this country with their rants and cries every day on social media.

What is the definition of coward. Look at what you say about fear, and you’ll see clearly that Humphrey is indeed a coward.

How is declaring yourself president courageous?

You were a contender in an election and you announce yourself the winner and you call that courageous?

Come on. Those of them that pushed Abiola to make the declaration all ran abroad to fight for democracy and never returned till his and Abacha’s death. Were they also cowards?

Abiola was already winning from the results so far announced, 19 out of 30 states. Before Nwozu stopped further announcement of the results. The rest of the results was leaked. Humfrey Nwozu stopped announcing the results and IBB would later annull the election entirely.
