Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has declared that any resident who wishes to settle disputes through the Sharia Panel is free to do so in the state.

Makinde made this declaration during the 2025 Iftar programme organised by the state government.

The event was attended by Islamic clerics, Muslim leaders, and top government functionaries in the state.

While addressing the gathering, Makinde noted that he needed to clarify the plan to apply Sharia law in some states of the South-West, including Oyo.

He stated that his administration would not oppose anything that aligns with the Constitution.

He explained that members of the public are free to approach the Sharia Panel if they so wish.

The governor, who described the panel as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, emphasised that the courts remain constitutionally empowered to settle all disputes.

According to him: “I read in the newspaper that I would go to court for an interpretation regarding the Sharia Panel, which is ongoing in Oyo. That is not my position.

“My position is that we will support anything that is in our constitution. I made a statement when Muslims in South-Western Nigeria, MUSWEN, came to my office that we should not encourage discord among ourselves, no matter how small.

“My interpretation is that even within our families, not every issue is taken to court. When people have disagreements, the elders in the family try to settle the dispute.

“So, regarding this particular Sharia Panel, whoever wishes to engage with it and sees it as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, it is fine. It will help the government and ensure that fewer cases reach our judges.

“We will encourage alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and the only thing I can say is that if enforcement or further clarification is required, the courts—recognised by the constitution—remain available.”

But how can some people from the South West be saying they don't need Sharia court in their land when there are millions of islamic natives from the region? undecided

I think the conversation should be about: if two Muslims, A and B, have an issue, can A drag B to a Shari'a court if B doesn't consent to it?

This is another milestone achievement from the North. We must enforce Sharia laws on all Yoruba land. Soon we will install a Northerner to serve as Emir in Oyo, the way we did in Ilorin years ago.

Shari'a has come to stay in Yorubaland. Where are those people shouting on social media that it would not happen in Yorubaland? It has happened in your generation; you can relocate to Ghana if you're not satisfied.

I think it's fine. But in southwest there's Oyo State and there is Lagos State and Ogun State.
No one should bring this madness to Ogun State because we're different in reasoning.

I also advocate for Sharia law to adopted in Yoruba land, which will give our Muslim brothers Fair hearing being enshrined in our constitution.

grin grin This is what I was telling them in the other thread and some fools who doesn't know they're actually foolish were calling me names and after seeing this news they'd still believe there's no Islamization agenda going on in Nigeria, let me bring the post here again.


Let me warn my Anambra brethrens.... There's a serious Islamic agenda going on in Nigeria now with speed. They have captured Rivers State using Wike and Asari Dokubo, now they have made Asari Dokubo the Islamic leader for South South and South East, Asari Dokubo understands the game because that was the primary reason they choose and bred him from childhood just as Pastor Bosun Emmanuel mentioned few years ago in his exposition of the plans by Muslims to Islamize the entire Nigeria, but Wike does not understand this plan because he was rather carried away by power drunk and political selfish interests.

Now they're weighing on the options between this man Nicholas Ukachukwu and Valentine Ozigbo who will be a better tool to perfect their agenda in Anambra being the heart of Igbo land, we must resist this plan with what ever it takes. Hope Uzodinma have layed some underground foundations for them but its not easy to raise their evil heads because of the invisible presence of IPOB. Nnamdi Kanu and Pastor Bosun Emmanuel screamed about this agenda but people thought it's impossible,... Yoruba people thought they could just wish it away by rebuking who ever made mention of it, but today they have already established sharia law in Oyo state and Governor Makinde is helpless, this is happening while a Yoruba man is the president.

Of course that's part of the deal that forcefully brought him as the president, and as all these are happening, the National Assembly have passed a bill proposing that individuals who lives anywhere in the country for up to ten years can becomes a citizen of where he lives, this bill already passed second reading in the National Assembly. IPOB were the only monster standing in their way to this agenda and that's why they fought IPOB with everything in their disposal including the adant incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu. Tinubu is on Islamic mission, People should wake up especially the Yorubas who think that their brother is the president and wouldn't do anything against them, Tinubu already sold Yoruba people out, go and mark it somewhere because it's no longer far before you see it.

What if you drag me to Sharia court and I tell you say I no dey go, wetin go happen? Dem go arrest me?

In my own view, a Christian cannot appear before a Shari'a court because he will be asked to swear with the Qur'an. No serious Christian will do that.
