These are signs that investing in Nigeria especially agriculture isn’t all that safe giving to the fact of rampaging herdsmen and destruction of farmlands.

No herdman or bandit will dare enter OBJ farm. Baba is just doing this to make weak minded fellow believe Nigeria is not safe for investment.

can u farm or invest in farming currently with fulani? My uncle a multi billion farmer and a retired military man like obj was killed on Tuesday by fulani. They shot at his leg, he was running to his car to pick his gun, they ran after him and used cutlass on his head. No sensible person want to invest in farm in Nigeria with fulani acting above the law

The Nigerian government needs to do a lot concerning food security in the country.

Farmers has been lamenting the inability to access their farms due to bokoharam menace, banditry and herdsmen activites in virtually all parts of the country.

This is about the main reason why there is food shortage in the country, as dood production has drastically reduced.

Nobody wants to invest in Agriculture in a climate as this!

Question is where and how did obasanjo get 700m dollars?

Excellent question that can be answered with his personal income tax returns since he returned from prison bankrupt in 1998 to become president a year later, thanks to the generosity of PDP pillars like Atiku.

Is it not starnge that the old soldier can be so ungrateful to the party that made him president after he was saved just in time from being killed by Abacha like the senior YarÁdua?

FuckFuckPastor:
A new book has revealed how former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, saved ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo from near bankruptcy before he emerged president in 1999.

According to the new book, entitled ‘’Too Good to Die: Third Term and the Myth of the Indispensable Man in Africa,’ Atiku made all his resources available for Obasanjo’s presidential campaign.

The book, written by former chairman of National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, Chidi Odinkalu, and Ayisha Osori, author of ‘’Love Does Not Win Elections,” also revealed how Obasanjo beat late Alex Ekwueme to the presidential ticket of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 1999 election.

Quoting an account from Atiku, the authors said the trio of Ibrahim Babangida, Theophilus Danjuma and Abdulsalami Abubakar wanted PDP to adopt Obasanjo as their presidential candidate “because they considered him the best person for the job.”

Obasanjo and Atiku

“Implicit in their position was their belief that they knew how to manipulate Obasanjo and the fact that Obasanjo did their bidding in 1979. They felt secure that he could be managed again,” the authors wrote.

Atiku was reportedly asked to join a team to Ogun to inform Obasanjo that he was going to run for the highest office in the land.

“When Atiku and Obasanjo discussed the call to serve as president, Obasanjo said he could not be president because he was a nearly bankrupt ex-convict. Atiku, through General (Aliyu) Gusau, paid money into Obasanjo’s account to begin his financial rehabilitation.

“Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar helped out by granting him an unconditional pardon. Atiku put everything he had at his disposal to support Obasanjo’s emergence as the PDP presidential candidate and, when he joined the ticket as the vice-presidential nominee, continued to make his assets available to Obasanjo and the campaign.

Exactly my thoughts. What business was obasanjo doing before presidency and even after presidency to worth over 700m dollars. This is just what he is willing to put in one investment. You can imagine what would be left and the other investments that he has.

Obasanjo is among the people that laid the foundation for this faulty Nigeria and democracy we have today

With Fulani Herdsmen menace which has become unchecked, investing such huge sum in Nigeria comes with a loss.

Only God can help you, not to encounter big loss.
Moreso, Government high-handedness of taking private lands that was legally acquired doesn't encourage such investments.

Most businesses are going through multiple taxation in Nigeria especially FCT. Environmental, fumigation, certification of fitness of your premises, tenement rate, sign board, television tax all under the council areas. Then you pay to FCT HHSS, pay annual license of your private facility to your regulatory council, pay your personal license, pay for your professional development etc. The worse is the local government people that extort money without carrying out the fumigation, or the certificate of fitness without doing anything or environmental that extort money without carrying out the waste. There has to be a way to regulate these multiple taxation in order to encourage small scale businesses.
He who feels it knows it
The unproductive government supporters are not aware of these

That Nigeria is far better for such investment is not in doubt. It doesn't matter where anyone chose to go invest proceed of questionable Nigeria electricity generation and distribution contract.

Nigeria better for such investment? I guess you be in charge of security to prevent Fulani not destroy the farm.

He could have raised it from various sources. He has the connections and means to do that.

The question you should be more interested in is why nobody wants to invest in the country!!!

Obasanjo’s $700m Cameroon Investment Sparks Concerns Over Nigeria’s Business Climate

https://leadership.ng/obasanjos-700m-cameroon-investment-sparks-concerns-over-nigerias-business-climate/

The purported investment of Obasanjo's group, which amounts to CFA420 billion ($700), actually dwarfs the total amount of trade between both countries. The mind does boggle!

The main products exported from Nigeria to Cameroon were Steam Turbines ($74.7M), Scrap Vessels ($31.1M), and Passenger and Cargo Ships ($21.2M). During the last 5 years the exports of Nigeria to Cameroon have decreased at an annualized rate of 15.8%, from $401M in 2018 to $169M in 2023.
Source: https://oec.world/en/profile/bilateral-country/nga/partner/cmr

An even lower figure is presented here:

In 2023, trade between Cameroon and Nigeria was largely driven by exports, reaching CFA39.5 billion, with imports totaling CFA39.4 billion, according to Cameroon’s National Institute of Statistics.
