Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the dynamic Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, recently opened up about a divine instruction that may seem small to some — but carried a life-changing impact.

When Pastor Jimmy took over leadership of the church after the passing of his father, the beloved Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, he said one of the first things he did was seek God’s face about everything — including whether he should cut his signature dreadlocks.

“One of the things I asked the Lord before I came back was whether I should cut my hair or not. And He told me not to cut my hair,” he said during a recent sermon.

What really struck me was how intentional he was — even asking his sister to pray for confirmation. She came back with the same answer: “You’re not supposed to cut it.” And that’s when things got deeper.

Pastor Jimmy recalled a woman from Zimbabwe who travelled all the way to Nigeria just to share a vision she had back in 2016 — while in New York. In the vision, she saw him, dreadlocks and all, giving her instructions and guiding her spiritually.

Now get this — back in 2016, he didn’t even have long hair. But God, already seeing ahead, was preparing him to be the person this woman needed to recognize in 2025.

“If I had cut it, she might not have recognized me. God made me keep the hair to save a life,” he said.

Isn’t that just powerful? It’s a beautiful reminder that obedience, even in things that seem “small” or misunderstood by others, can have eternal impact.

Sometimes your identity, your journey, your appearance — it’s not just about you. It might be the very sign someone else is waiting on to find their way.

Though it is a cultural thing but based on Paul's advice, we must understand the cultural sensitivity of our environment.
But he brought another dimension into it when he said "God told him..." It became difficult to opininate freely on it like I would have loved to freely do.
