Be good at what you do. If you work within a team, make sure to bring value to the team. The more you bring to the team, the more valuable you will become to them. Build on the skills that you have already acquired. In doing so, you are positioning yourself for promotion. Make sure you master the fundamentals of your job. This will translate into people counting and trusting in you. If people count on you, more responsibility will come your way. More responsibility will lead to higher pay. Higher pay will lead to promotion.
