As a result of the ongoing nationwide strike action, some U.S airlines are allowing travelers to change their flight without penalty. This is at least welcome development to those planning to travel to and from Nigeria.

Here is the travel update from Continental/United airlines

Due to calls for a general labor strike in Nigeria scheduled to begin on Monday, January 9, 2012, customers planning to travel to, from or through Lagos on January 8 or 9, may change their travel plans to an alternate day.

Original Travel Dates:
January 8, 2012 – January 9, 2012

Final Travel must be completed by:
End of Validity of ticket (one year from date of issue) Flight Changes:
When rescheduled travel commences by January 16, 2012 change fees and fare differences will be waived.
For all other changes, the change fee will be waived, but a difference in fare may apply.
Refunds
OnePass rewards may be cancelled and re-deposited for no fee.
For all other tickets, refunds are permitted only if your flight is cancelled or delayed at least 2 hours.
