Federal civil servants in Abia can go on strike if they want, as long as they know that they forfeit their pay for any period they embark on a strike. Abia state government did not remove the fuel subsidy and not everyone in Abia is keen to see the subsidy regime reinstated. There are people like me that support the removal and they should not embark on strikes that add no value to Abia state people and government. Abians have good reasons to be happy about the removal of this subsidy as the private partnership refinery at Owaza can now proceed and create job for Abians. Therefore all Abia state civil service workers should return to their duty posts and continue to serve Abia residents. Everyone knows that Orji does not hesitate to dump civil servants, so they should not provide him with the ammunition to "fire" them with and if he does fire them as a result of their sabotage, then they would have been well fired. |

Re: Abia State Gov. Orders Civil Servants To Return To Work by thejurist: 12:40pm On Jan 10, 2012 |
the government position is for the interest of the people, abia house endorsed fuel subsidy removal. igbos are killed no protest, let the yorubas and others lead the struggle after all the igbos started this in 1967 and the rest were against us. i beg igbos to be mindful before embarking on protest cos others might sell out as usual and leave us to suffer the implications |

Whether Subsidy removal or no subsidy removal i don`t trust the Government and i will never trust the Government until Nigeria and Nigerians begin to reap the dividends of democracy and public and political holders are sentenced to 165yrs imprisonment for stealing public fund,I laugh at those who thinks it is stupid to go out there protest for a policy you think is not right for you, your family and people,it is the right of everyone to protest peacefully if you feel aggrieved. For me the success of this protest is not until the Government reverse it`s position but the collective "WILL" of the people to sit back to challenge a policy of the Government which they feel will bring more hardship to them. Abia has been one of the worst state in infrastructural development since the inception of Democracy in Nigeria,i am not surprised by the decision of the Governor but it is left for the Abia people to decide how they want to be Governed. |
