Ex-ASUU Boss Backsjonathan On Subsidyremoval by 1virus(m): 8:40am On Jan 12, 2012 |
By Austin Ogwuda Asaba—A former Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, has supported the removal of the fuel subsidy and called on the Presidency not to succumb to any form of intimidation to reverse the policy. Describing the removal as justifiable, Muoboghare warned that any attempt to frustrate President Goodluck Jonathan from office through political maneuvering would be resisted. Fielding questions with newsmen in Asaba, Muoboghare, a former Chairman of ASUU at Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, said: “It was long ago as an individual that I said subsidy was a huge fraud. I repeat, subsidy is fraud and I advise my dear President not to go back. Subsidy is gone. “We started with equalization of prices of petroleum products to refined petrol in Warri, Ekpan. People in Warri where it was refined would buy at N65 per litre, then it takes two days of continuous driving of the tanker to transport it to Maiduguri and the people in Maiduguri will also buy it at N65 per litre. What kind of mad economy is that?” |
