The Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Don Ubani, has applauded President Goodluck Jonathan for exhibiting sensitivity and responsiveness to the plight of Nigerians in the face of absolute necessity to remove subsidy on fuel and deregulate the downstream sector of the petroleum industry. Chief Ubani stated this in a release he issued in Umuahia shortly after the President announced a significant reduction of price on petrol to ninety-seven naira per liter. Chief Ubani commended leaders of the Organized Labour and Civil Society Organizations for appreciating the liberal commitment of Mr. President by calling off their protest which the Commissioner believes has inflicted untold hardship not only on the economy of the country but even more devastatingly on Nigerian masses. The Information boss admonished petroleum marketers to adhere strictly to the new price regime in order to save Nigerians from further economic torture.
