Its quite unfortunate that not every one who writes this Post UTME will be accepted. But all doesnt end there and you dont need to stay at home for one more year.

How about getting a skill that even many graduates are yet to get? Have you heard of ICDL? INTERNATIONAL COMPUTER DRIVING LICENCE? Getting a skill like this can open opportunites for employment even before you get into the university.

The problem really is not that there are no jobs in the country. The real issue is that most Nigerian graduates are half-baked (i'm sorry to say).

Why is that most companies would rather employ a graduate from abroad? It's not because they are superior beings, but because foreign schools equip their students with what I call SKILLS FOR WORK.

Most graduates don't even have basic computer skills. How can they work effeciently in a proper company then?

Research shows that, people who invest time, energy, and resources in their essential skills often experience many benefits. They can include getting better jobs, making more money, having more confidence and self-esteem, and wanting to tackle new challenges in their careers and in their personal lives. Overall, working on essential skills can lead to a better life.

Essential skills include: Reading, How to use documents, Numeracy, Writing, Computer Use, Oral Communication, Working with others, Thinking and Lifelong learning.

Skills are powerful allies in helping you make a successful career advancement. Understanding your transferable skills and matching them with a job you want will give you the ability to bridge the gap between the work you do today and the jobs of tomorrow.

The time has come for us to get off our bums and do something about our situations by improving our skills rather than complain about the economic situation. A popular quote says 'Dont ask what your country can do for you, rather ask yourself what you can do for your country.'

You can make your country a better place by starting with the man in the mirror: YOU! Get the job you desire today! Get a new skill.

Learn4change offers a rich bouquet of over 6000 courses that can enrich any individual's life. Another good news is that you can learn at your pace to gain the certification that you deserve.
