no wonder they suddenly started painting the NIS buildings at the National Stadium. however, the work that has been done at the stadium (pretty much just painting anything that can be painted) does not reflect those figures in any way and must have cost, at best, a tiny part of it.

We love being sensational without asking questions.

Maybe they are running ads. My FB ad budget is $100 a day. Roughly 6 million a year.

That is the question we should be asking.

They could be doing it to get a lot of Nigerians to like the page and then dispense information from there.

The question is are they running the ads? Or should they run ads at all?

How much are they paying per click or per impression.

My point is, the story is made do look like someone just stole 1.2m to open a facebook account which can be done free.

That might not be the case.

Re: National Sports Commission Allocated N1.2m For A Facebook Account by Nobody: 5:45pm On Jan 30, 2012
i run facebook campaigns and i can tell you 1.2 million naira is NOT outrageous enough to make it to the papers.
It depends on your campaign and how much you can spend.
moreover, if actually spent, it will show up in the account history.
I have managed accounts with campaigns over $5000 equivalent to 750k for a client

I never said they were going to do it themselves. They could have hired someone to do this.

Lots of small businesses go around "marketing" individulas, corporate bodies and goverment parastatals to use fb payper click and google adwords. They could have had someone do this.

Again, please note that I'm not saying paying for ads is what they did or wether it is wrong or right. Point is, this is unnecessarily seansational.

Bros, leave tori. NSC is one of the most useless govt dept in this country. U will be surprise that they don't have a single computer and still depend on typewriters.
